My fiancee went for her medical and interview in the same week. At the medical they found something in her xray that stopped the medical process and they said they would cancel her interview. How long is her petition valid for before it expires or will they extended it once the medical process is done?

My fiancee iwaiting for the sputum culture so we have not scheduled the interview yet.

The culture test is not complete until Feb 19 and if the petition is only good for 4 months it will be up in about 2 weeks

It's good for 4 months at a time, but USEM will automatically extend it as long as the case is active for up to a year. If you go over a year without doing something with them (such as having the 3-month treatment, never scheduling appt, etc.), THEN they would consider the case abandoned. As stated, you are good for up to a year. More, if need be and you request it. They KNOW the process often takes more than 4 months, they do this every day.
