Hello all, to save some $ and time we (my wife and I) were thinking why not just leave her name alone. Meaning not change her maiden name. I am assuming we don't have to change her name for our DCF and we can change the names when we get back to the US? Are we correct?

If you file an I-90 to change it after you enter the US it will cost $450 to do so.

You could change it at RoC time for free, if you wished, just by using that name on the I-751.

guess I should have been clearer. What I meant was rather than my wife getting a new passport showing her new name and a new birth cert with the new name and all that which is a pain in the ### here in the Philippines. Can we just leave it as is? Then sometime after we get home when its convienent for us change her name then.

Your wife can use her maiden name forever if she wants to. No issues there.

On a side note, for Filipinas who want to use their married name, there's no need to amend the birth certificate. Only the passport and other identification cards are changed. ?

ok cool just didnt want to go thru the BS with NSO and DFA and ..... But if its ok with USEM we will leave it as her maiden name for now.
