I have 2 different topics i want to know about.

First, I am confused right now because I am not aware that have to submit a report if marriage.

Im filipino and married to a US citizen and i already have my green card. Do I still need to submit report of marriage then?

Secondly, I was looking at the embassy of the philippine website what are the requirements needed for me to renew my philippine passport plus changing it to my married name on it but one of the requirements is to have Proof that applicant has not applied for foreign citizenship, e.g. resident alien card, but then I already have my green card and we are planning to travel outside US so i don't know which is the right thing to do.

Hi Kimislas,

You can call PH embassy where you lived, and ask them what you should do about reporting your marriage and to renew your passport. They will give your all the info you need. That's what I did before when I renewed that said docs. Hope it helps.

I did the same thing, Just print and fill up the report of marriage form at home with the supporting documents, you can file report of marriage and passport renewal together. Fill up the forms ahead of time and you should be out there fast :)

Secondly, green card is not foreign citizenship, just bring your green card with you, you should be fine. I think what they are trying to tell you is if your green card application is still pending.

Instructions on how to file report of marriage should be on the Philippine consulate website (on your area)

Good Luck!

Info report of marriage and passport renewal is on the Philippine consulate website. You can do the report of marriage by mail but you have to do the passport renewal in person. If the consulate is not close to your area check their website for Outreach Event dates for cities near you.

You don't HAVE to do a ROM, but there's really no reason not to. We did both together during an outreach, made it SUPER easy, and didn't have to travel at all. I recommend donig both together, as the people made it nice and easy for us, they needed more copies than we read online, plus they had Filipino food there for us to eat. They will mark your old passport as invalid (ours was punched, some aren't) and give it back to you. I'd keep it, cuz if you travel back to the PI anytime soon, being able to show CFO stamp and exit stamp from the PI can help "confused airline counter agents". But in reality, you shouldn't ever need to show it.
