Hi yall

I am very new to this website.

I am an exchange student, and I am currently engaged to american fiance.

We are getting married april 1st.

I just don't know where to start to get the GC.

So, do we need to go to the court house first to get the marriage license?(do I need any documents from korea to get a marriage license?)

after that, do I start filing all the paper works to immmigration?

I am sorry, I sound really stupid, but I am just confused.

also, if i start filing in April, would I have enough time to get a green card, because my student visa is going to expire in Nov.

If somebody explain to me the process, and what to do, I will really appreciate it.

Have a nice day yall

Have you started reading the guide here?

You could start the filing once you are married.

Getting married in court house is perfect fine and legal.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

First obtain a marriage license from your county. Check online and see how and where marriage licenses are issued in your county. In the state of Oregon, Multnomah county you just go to the county office with your intending souse, no appointments needed. You pay either by check or cash an amount of $60 and they issue you a license. This license is valid for 60 days from the date issued and will expire if not used.

If you get married within the 60 days, the wedding officiant (who should be certified) will fill out the remaining part of the license and return it to the county, usually within 3-10 days. After that, you can obtain certified copies of your marriage certificate. This is what you add to your adjustment of status application when filing.

After your marriage, you need to have a medical done. The USCIS has a list of certified civil surgeons you should go to for your medical. It is better to have a vaccination record with you so you don't have to take all the shots, if you don't they will give you all the shots that are required for your age. This medical shouldn't exceed $300. The civil surgeon will give you a sealed envelope containing results of the test that you will submit with your application to USCIS.

Next step is filling out the forms, gathering evidence and submitting to USCIS,

You talk you teach, you listen you learn
