Hi. I am planning to go to the phillippines with my husband around this coming march and I needed some assistance to make sure I'm going to the right path.

So I already have my green card with my married name on it and I still have my unexpired phillipine brown passport with my maiden name on it. Now that we are planning to travel is it a mandatory for me to change my surname in my passport? If so how long is the process? If I have other option what could it be?

You will be fine with your green card in your married name and your passport in your maiden name. Just make sure you take your marriage certificate with you because it will show why you are using two different names. Also, you might want to make sure your passport's expiration date is at least six months after your travel date.

Hello!

I have similar question. So I have my Green card, SSN etc with my new american married name but my finnish passport is still on my maiden name. My passport is still valid almost 4 years so I really dont need to get a new one just yet -expect the name issue of course. Im travelling to Finland on this coming summer and Im scared that they dont let me back to US if I have my passport and GC on different names. On the other hand, if I would get a new passport while Im in Finland, then I would have my tickets on different names and airlines are crazy about that: the tickets need to be on same name all way long.

So you guys think I should be fine coming back to US with GC/passport with different names as long as I have my marriage certificate etc with me?

Thanks for the help!
