I think you can go as often as long as you don't stay more than 6 months.

I got the greencard in September, moved to the US in October and visited in January for a few weeks without any problem (and I didn't have the physical green card yet, only the stamp in my passport).

Thank you KKwette :)  (long time no see)

Yes, that is what I read here :

Hi all,

I have few question for the french citizen here waiting for their K1 too.

I'm french citizen waiting for the US embassy in Paris a notification but I can't find anything about their status... Do you have any idea if they actually working on K1 interview right now ?

I called the NVC and they told me that my files was in Paris since the 22nd of april 2020, and when I called Paris all they say is wait for the notification...

Also, like i lived more than 6 months in australia, I ordered my australian police record but the simple one without fingerprints check... Is that bad ? Should I ordered a new one ?

Thanks for your time guys !

Hey Lu74,

From what I know, everything is still on standby position (!) at the US Embassy in Paris which is a real drag... it is a good point that your file is said to be in Paris.

And yes, we all have to wait for the notification that will allow us to make a proper appointment at the Embassy (on their website).

As for your police certificate, I don't know... I guess it doesn't cost anything to order a new one with your fingerprints (or does it?). How long would it take?

Take care,

Alix

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are well.

I am wondering what are the restrictions for US citizens (like my husband ;-)) to travel to France. He is planning to come over this summer (in August) and I am trying to find infos on the situation right now. I know it can evolve a great deal until August but it is quite difficult to have precise information about borders open or not, quaranteene or not, etc.

Does anyone have infos on that? Thank you guys,

Take care,

Alix

I was pretty sure you only needed police record from the countries where you lived for more than a year. I think you should be OK anyway. I also lived in Australia and got the same one, although I did not have to use it as I am now doing AOS.

Bon courage.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies !

I finally found the information about my australian police record which say :

Police record with fingerprint is preferred but name check only is acceptable if all aliases is on the paper so it should be good !

Can't believe that the U.S embassy in Paris is still on standby position ! They could at least give us some information about their status...It is really hard to have wedding plan without any news from them...

Take care guys

Hi Alix,

my husband traveled from the US to France on 10 May. All went fine, except that he was denied boarding a flight with a layover in London and had another flight cancelled at the last minute, all related to COVID uncertainties.

Context : we are married, he is a US citizen and I live in France full time.

My advice :

- have all papers ready (marriage certificate, justificatif de domicile in France, copy of your passport)

- book a direct flight from the US to France (any layover might result in him being denied boarding)

- forced quarantine is not in place - it is only on a voluntary basis and can happen at home

The whole travel was really not bad (remember, this was when lockdown was still in place in France !!)

Let me know if you have any more question about it !

Hello frenchamerican people,

Is the embassy currently scheduling interviews for IR1/CR1 ? How long is the usual wait (preCOVID)...?

Waiting to upload documents but people have been DQ in a few days lately so hoping to be part of the lucky ones.

Thanks

Hello MA&AR,

For now the Paris Embassy is still closed. No interview unless it's a matter or life and death (it seems). Next week it might change. Let's hope.

The usual timeline before Covid was :

- you uploaded your docs and then it took them 6-8 weeks to check on your case. Lately it was much faster. Don't really know why. That's great.

- once you were DQ (= documentarily qualified / your case is accepted by NVC), the pre-covid delay was of about 2/3 weeks to receive your interview email/letter, with a date scheduled 5/6 weeks after you got DQed. More or less 6 weeks from DQ to Interview.

Hope that helps,

Take care :)

Hello LoveInChicago,

Sorry to hear about your RFE, but they deal them very quickly right now, so you are fine and yes, probably we'll end up you and I having the interview at about the same time.

No news from the Embassy in Paris... maybe next week ? Hopefully.

:)

Finally was able to submit all documents today after IV fee went through yesterday (first paid on may 28th).

Let's see how long it takes to be DQ or RFE.

Also, saw this in a FB group, sounds right to you guys ?
