Bonjour tout le monde :) I’m a French citizen living in Montreal.

My husband and I are supposed to go see my family in France for 2 weeks mid-March but we’re suddenly quite worried about the covid19 situation... I’m supposed to have my interview in April or May (most likely April) but we’re worried about being quarantined or having my interview cancelled due to travels in Europe. The situation seems to evolve quickly in Italy for example.

I was wondering if the topic came up during your medical exams recently, or at the interview in Paris? Here I know that applicants have been asked at the consulate if they have been or are planning to go to China.

I guess what we’re worried about is what if by the time we visit and come back, it’s evolved in France and it becomes an issue at the interview here in Montreal... Would love to hear about you guys’ experiences!

After 85 days in AP we finally got a word from Paris Embassy - they do NOT have our medical results! They waited THAT long to tell us that now?! I am absolutely disgusted!🤮

they request my husband's passport back. Also they request "medical results" - this one is surprising

Hi Rose,

If I understand well, you are going to France for leisure/family reasons right (since your itw is in Montreal).

Personaly, I would cancel your trip to France (sorry :().

Nobody knows how it is going to evolve. US administration could take drastic measures and change the rules of travelling. So, after all you have been through with USCIS/NVC etc. I would not take that risk.

It is not so much of the risk to catch the desease in France(even though...), it is more about the decisions that governments are going to make.

Put all chances on your side. Postpone your trip. That is my advice.

Take care :)

M word (sorry for my French), the Embassy is unreachable, today after many attempts on the phone we finally got a rep answering. The guy sounded outsourced in India, he could not provide any info on our case nor the answer to a simple question, Did Embassy get the medical results or not?? He gave us an email address for Immigrant visa Unit and we wrote an email today.

As far as my husband is concerned, he got info that the medical was received by the Embassy back in December (from the only phone call from the Embassy). Did they misplaced the medical, and don’t want to admit that, or what?

My dear VJ family ,

it’s with a lot of pleasure that I announce I have been APPROVED !!!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉

visa  interview this morning in Paris embassy 🙂

Everything  went smooth

a lot of questions , and they let  my husband come in as he is usc and asked him questions .

No  questions about DS540 but officer told that it can happen at the POE and to bring proof  of health insurance during the travel just in case if the officer at the POE ask for it

finally , it happened !!

Congrats, Mr & Mrs T! Very happy for you!

Yes, it's normal to be in AP after being approved. The AP can be as short as 1 day and as long as several years (hey, the latter does NOT apply to you guys:).

AP means they are working on issuing the visa.

Just wait, and you will see the status on CEAC changes to ISSUED.

Good luck!

Hello to you all,

I just wanted to give you some updates on our journey. So after my CR1 visa got approved on January 22nd, I travelled to the US on Feb 25th.

As we got married on Feb 13th 2018, at the time I entered the US, we were married more then 2 years and I had the right to ask the POE officer to qualify my visa as IR1.

This i how it went.

POE - Atlanta / I had a nonstop flight from Paris (and 3 hours before my connecting flight)

Arrival to Atlanta border control went super quickly, we were the only plane at that time so I went through primary control in 5 minutes. Then I was put in a side part of the airport arrival for secondary control (they took my passport). I waited for good 45 min/ 1hour. There was 15/20 people in front of me, both for spousal and finacé visas, but also for Global Entry control..).

When they finally called my name, they only asked me about my US address. I then raised the question about changing my visa to IR1. Officer in charge didn't know anything about it and said there was nothing he could do. I insisted a bit and he called his supervisor who then said I was right to ask them that and did all necessary to qualify my visa as IR1 (10 year green card).

That was it :)

I still didn't receive my SSN so there is not much I can do for now. Waiting on it to be able to open my bank account and pass driving licence (in New Mexico I have to do both theoretical and driving test).

In a meanwhile, I was able to be added on a lease despite not having SSN :)

Good luck to you all!
