Hi Lisa, I have never been in this situation (still waiting for my NOA2...) but I have seen on other pages of the forum that it happens. Maybe, if you are dealing with the French consulate, have a look at this page  https://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=France&cty=&dfilter=5&topic=

Take care,

Alix

Thank you for your reply Alix, in fact after checking multiple times a day I did see a few dates available but way too soon for us (early November and we already have travel plans around that.time. ) so I will keep checking for later dates :)

Today I received my case number from the NVC. Can my fiancé start filling out the DS-160 now or should I wait for the embassy to receive our case?

You can feel the DS160 as soon as you have your case number. Once your case is ready at the embassy then you will need your DS160 confirmation number to make the appointment :)

Hi everyone

I wonder if i need to book a roundtrip flying ticket or just a one-way...? On one hand we're not allowed to leave the US soil before getting our travel permit, but on the other hand with one visa usually we have to get a roundtrip ticket?... I'm confused...

Return tickets are way cheaper usually... but you don't need it as you entrer the country with immigration visa

Hello to everyone,

I just read a recent review of Paris embassy - appointment for CR1 visa and apparently the person was asked to provide birth certificate less then 6 months old...thing that is not stipulated at all on the official pages!

Did people who went through the process had recent birth certicates or similar issues as this person?

I just ordered mine online - it takes up to 9 weeks now to have it... I was kinda hoping to have my interview appointment before...

Have a great day :)

Hello ,

I am still at the NVC stage but I hope I can help you 😀

To  answer your questions your birth certificate / marriage certificate have to be less than 3 months old at the time of the interview as In France , they are “valid” just during that time frame and have and issuance date on it .
mon the French side they take less than 9 week . The mairie sent mine in one day when I need it .

i give you the VJ link with the info for the birth certificate .

Thank you for your answer.

My mariage certificate is the US one so I am good with that one.

I agree that for French administration birth/mariage certificates need to be less then 3 months, but we are talking here about US administration and they never mentioned it and it is even more weird they ask for less then 6 months old...

Anyhow, I can't ask mine at the Mairie as I was born abroad so I have to do online request and the waiting time in 9 weeks (so how can you have less then 3 months old certificate when you need to wait 9 weeks just to get it?) lol

Hey! My husband just got an interview scheduled at the Paris embassy for November 6. The website says he can go and get his passport and visa himself after the interview when it's ready (instead of having sent). Has anyone done this before? If so, about how long after the interview is the passport ready? Thanks!

Hello,

In France you should get your birth certificate withing 15 days. It is usually very quick (at least with the city I was born in).

Take care,

Alix

Hello everyone ,

i have a little problem and Honestly start to worrying..

we submit everything at NVC on October 10th and it’s says “submitted “ but when I go on CEACstate . Gov it’s says “ action required ; submit request documents “

we called them and they say to not care about that and that they have our documents but to me it’s weird .
plus I see a lot of people being reviewed very quick and I don’t want to waste more time ..

could someone help ?
have a good day !!

I actually think there have been a system glitch or something because on thursday I received the confirmation with 9 weeks delay and this morning I received the information my birth certificate has been shipped. So maxi 10 days wait!

I am relieved!
