I wish I could type my whole post in French but unfortunately my French isn't that good :P

Today my fiancé went to a job fair in Paris for students interested in working in the US. They had representatives from the US consulate in Paris. He discussed the K1 process a bit and got some information and I just wanted to bring it here to see how accurate it was according to people who have experienced the Paris consulate. The guy seemed pretty reassuring, and I just wanted some peace of mind to ensure that Paris is indeed an "easier" consulate.

For context, we got our NOA1 for our I-129F petition a few weeks ago. Just planning ahead. We have no concerns about proving a bonafide relationship- we have been together two years, visited each other multiple times and we have boarding passes and passport stamps to prove it. He is graduating with a master's degree in engineering from a prestigious university in France, is in good health, and speaks English fluently. I'm finishing school and don't have an income but my mom agreed to be a co-sponsor and allow my fiancé to live with her until we get on our feet so I am not too worried about him being a potential public charge.

I do have a question about the medical exam. I'm a bit worried about past drug use. My fiancé is not worried about passing a drug test, but we are wondering if they will ask him if he has used drugs in the past. He will be honest about past use, but we have both agreed that now that we are finishing school and getting married we have no desire to smoke marijuana anymore. The rep at the job fair said not to worry, since they realize a lot of people (including Hollande, apparently) have used pot and my fiancé has his life together. Do they always ask about past drug use, or only if they are suspicious about anything?

I don't recall the doctor asking anything about past drug use, but I may have forgotten about.

I really doubt they care about that, unless he had been arrested or something like that.

I really wouldn't worry about it.

Interview at American Embassy in Paris has been scheduled for my husband (IR-1) soon and I have a question regarding an envelope.

According to the instruction I got from the embassy, it says the following:

Chronopost Envelope: ONLY IF YOU RESIDE in Portugal or the Azores and are applying for an immediate relative or an employment based visa, please bring a “Chronopost” envelope 2 Kg format 25x36cm for UNION EUROPEENNE for international delivery of your immigrant visa packet. A single applicant can estimate he/she will need 500gram format 21x29,7cm. Chronopost envelopes are available from most French post offices: La Poste. Visas are not available for pickup on the day of the interview.

We reside in France. Do we still need to bring a chronopost envelope? If so, it is envelope for 2kg for France?

It was not really clear to me..

Others will chime in but I believe there's a vending machine at the embasssy where you can purchase the envelope. But bring your own, you never know! Get the Chronopost 2kg mailer for France (not Union Europeenne or International), better safe than sorry.
