Hello all, again I am sorry this probably isn't in the right forum but I don't know exactly where to post it, and you all have been so helpful during this whole process.

Right now, we are working on getting my fiance work authorization. Can this be done at the same time as when we apply for him to get a social security number? In the same place? I was a little confused by the directions in the guides section for this part.

Also, I am filling out the work auth. form, and I am not sure about questions #14 and #15. Since he is here on a K1 visa, would #14 be "K1 fiance"? Would #15 be "immigrant"?

Thank you!

Have you married yet ? If not the work authorization costs you more than he will make using it and then he will have to quit and wait for a second authorization to continue. Applying ased on a K1 ( unmarried ) the authorization take 2-3 months to get and is only good for the 90 days of his authorized entry via the K1 ( meaning it may expire before he gets it in hand ) Marry and apply as port of AOS

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Apply for the SSN now, but apply for the EAD at the same time as the I-485. The fees for the EAD and AP are waived when filed with a pending I-485. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

You can post questions about AOS in the AOS forum, found here > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/7-adjustment-of-status-green-card-from-family-based-visas/

~ Moved from K-1 Process to AOS from Family Based Visas - topic is AOS, not K-1 ~

Your fiance will not be able to work until after you are married and have filed for work authorization, or AOS. You can file both together along with the travel authorization, and will only pay the AOS fee. If if I94 has not expired yet, you should be able to have him apply for an SSN. we waited for this, until after we were married and took our marriage certificate( 6 days after we were married, we were able to pick this up as it was a small town) to the SSA office. We applied for his SSN and changed mine to my married name at the same time.
