Does anyone have experience about entering the US on the visa waiver program, while waiting for case complete/interview? We are leaving for the states at the end of the month, husband and two children all USC, I will then fly back to Sweden for my interview.. I am doing my medical this week so everything is done and ready for the interview. Have a hard time finding information about this online? The entire family has return tickets. My husband also has a letter from his employer stating he will be back to honor his contract after 5 weeks and I'm on maternity leave, we have bank accounts and a home and cellphones aso to show that we have to come back to get the last stuff done before the move. But we are moving our dog back to the US now, he will stay with my sister in law, as we don't have anywhere to put him for the 5 weeks we are visiting the states anyways.. Purpose of the visit is mainly friends and family, but also to start preparing for the future move. It is def a process. I have no intention of not returning to Sweden.. It's been a process worth priceless amount of time and over $1000.. Now I only have the interview left, I hope that shows for something.. Thoughts?

Hi my name is Elisabeth and Im a swedish citizen engaged to an american. We got our 129F approval from USCIS march 4th and were informed that our case is forwarded to NVC. I'm stressed out cause we are planning to get married July 19th and have booked everything from a venue to a priest. My feeling is to prospone the wedding but my fiancé wants to wait to prospone it. Any pointers or ideas? Should we trust the system and hope for an interview in June?

How long does the process usually take at the NVC to the American embassy in Stockholm?

Kind regards,

A very stressed bride

I just received an interview date for March 18th.. And the Nvc received my case December 8th.. So are you doing the fiancé visa or the spousal visa? Cause I feel like the fiancé visa is a quicker process to actually get to the US.. Since you still have to adjust status while in the us.. Spousal visas takes longer as you are a permanent resident at point of entry.. I think you should be fine, be active in the Nvc process, call a lot, ask a lot, cause they don't always email you information. Email the embassy to see what their workload is at the moment aso. Be active and I think you'll be ready to go by the time of your wedding:) so def hold on with the postpone.

Hi Emelie! Thank you for your response. We're doing the fiancé visa and our info is being sent to NVC from USCIS. They said yje process would take 8 weeks and then forward the info to the American embassy in Sweden to set up an interview.

Omg, I call NVC everyday and just talked to a lady at the american embassy and they couldn't give me any answers. But I will definitely email them and ask them about the workload. Thank you for the tip! I really appreciate it.

I hope you're interview goes well and you'll be on your way to the states soon ;-).

Welcome to the forum.

The general rule of thumb here at the VJ Forum, is to NOT make ANY wedding plans until you have the approved visa in your passport in your hand. The rationale for this is that there are far too many variables in this visa process outside of your control that can suddenly derail the best made plans. There are enough stressors associated with these visa processes, there is no need to add additional stress into your life.

Hopefully, you won't have any issues.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Hi Msc13.. I am planning on doing just that. Flying to the US on June 5th. I could very well have my interview date assigned by then.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what your lawyer says, it will all depend on the POE officer and how you present yourself to him or her.

What I would do is take as much evidence of your ties to Australia. Bills, employer letters, bank account statements anything that shows Australia as your permenant residence. And of course all the NVC emails you have received up until now, proof that you are doing this legally and not planning on adjusting once you enter the US.

It is also a good idea to have travel insurance for the duration of your stay in the US. shows that in case of an emergency you have health coverage.

At the end of the day you take the risk and hope that you are allowed in!

Hi B&G

I have seen you on May thread. Good to have found you here. You are right in what you say. Good idea about insurance as well. I wouldn't go until I also have a case complete and interview date because if I get an interview in August then we would wait those couple of weeks and all go together. Just don't want children to miss weeks of school. They are going into year 8 and 10. Why are you going? Holiday? Would love to know how you go getting in in June. I will be cool at POE as I know that I will be doing everything legal.

I completely understand why you want the kids enrolled and all that settled before your final move.

Reason why am I going is to see my husband! Even though we will get a July interview, I wont be making the final move to the US till end of Sep.

Promised my manager I will give him notice at least a month and a half before I resign.

Plus my sister lives in Australia and she will be visiting Athens, leaving end of Sep, so I want to spend some time with her.

So my husband and I decided to have me fly over for a couple of weeks before the interview, so that we wont have months go by without seeing each other. He will be flying to Athens to pick me up in Sep!

I will definetely let you know how things go at POE! I have travelled twice to the US since we started this process and haven't had any issues yet, and I am not expcecting any this time. Especially with the interview letter in my hands!!
