Let me just say first , we know exactly how you feel! Dear God bring us comfort, my daughters and I left Morocco 1 year ago almost to the day. That was the last time we saw Hicham face to face. It has been 4 years for us, it is not easy! And I am so sorry because I know the CR-1's are taking longer, as we sent in a K-1 petition. I hope you get the Visa, it will be like Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket! It would make me happy to see that. Everyone would be jealous hehe even me a little because I know the chances are slim and we never tried. Hang in there I have been studying Arabic and he is my tutor! This is one way we have spent these past four years. I started a new semester today and I pray to God ( in sha' Allah) that we are face to face at the very least the end of this semester. God be with us all as we suffer the agony of separation from those that we love.

From what i've read in VJ altogether it's not about which country the beneficiary is from. People who had a valid B-1/B-2 before submitting the I-130 could try to travel to the US with this valid tourist visa. They could also be turned away at the border if they didn't show enough ties to their home country. But getting a B-1/B-2 during the immigration process seems extremely unlikely.

I will say that my step daughter had an I-130 in progress when she applied for a B-2 visa. We made it clear prior to, and at her interview that she would not stay and jeopardize her ongoing I-130 application. She got her B-2 visa and was able to visit us while waiting for her immigration approval.

Hi! Last year I tried to get a B visa to visit my husband. It was denied (politely and kindly, but denied). I couldn't show strong ties to my home country (I had just recently moved back here) and showed a clear intent to live in the US (my husband's there!). The opposite are criteria to apply for a tourist visa. I could probably have made a better case for "I'm not going to overstay my welcome, I'm going to visit and come back and here's evidence that I'll do just that" but I don't know if it would have mattered. The person attending me also explained that even if I were granted a visa then, at the consulate, there would be an ever greater chance of having a denial at the port of entry.

So be hopeful (who knows, you may be granted the visa!) but be emotionally prepared for a denial. This process can be a crazy emotional roller coaster and, in my experience thus far, unfulfilled expectations are frequent and can be quite hurtful.

And I was quite surprised as she really had no ties to Russia. No job, no savings, no car, staying in our apartment, and her mother was living in the US.

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess you were expecting it though, but it still sucks.
