Most horror stories don't tell the whole truth, and have something in it that makes a difference, and the person keeps it hidden. There is a reason things are out of the ordinary.

I don't think people saying that someone had it harder is to make a contest, but just to point out the relativity of perspective. Some K-1s are complaining that their NOA2 is taking a few months, for instance. Waiting is hard. It is trying to just wait with no end point in sight, to have no control over it. I think everyone on this site understands that.

That may be true for some but not most cases. I would say that it is the USCIS, and the the CO's who drag things out and are

not transparent and 'hiding' things. One can only look at their disorganization in making a simple service request or AP that lasts

years and returned petitions that have no valid reason mentioned.

That 'something that makes it different' should not be blamed on the petitioner and beneficiary when they have crossed every t and dotted

every i and have been truthful in all aspects. That 'something different' can be biased and speculative assumptions without facts

and evidence from a CO. It can be a biased 'gut feeling' grounded in a personal belief that is beyond all logic.

Checks and balances are missing from the equation. The CO who is too speculative has too much discretionary freedom to prolong

this process. If every regulation has been complied with then either they need to get off the pot and get on with approval or be transparent

and inform us of the reason why they aren't approving or why the process is dragging on. I believe it is as much the system and the people handling cases if not more so than a couple here and there with issues that really need an extra look for a reasonable time....not years.

There are way too many good people here including myself who have been dragging through this for years. Years ! Not months but years.

I expect transparency in this process and not power trips from these agencies who can not answer a simple question when asked.

I do agree with you that waiting with no end in sight is very difficult, therefore my mantra of "we need more transparency".

...when I was young, I had to wait for someone. The wait was excruciating, the situation totally outside of my control... and it was traumatic. At that point I began to consider what I had to do to be able to survive the wait.

I learned that I lived in the present, called 'now'.... and that I could not wait a year, 2 years, or 10. All I could do was wait... 'now'. Time is continuous, the past and future make up our experiences, and hope... but 'NOW' is all I can truly contend with.

This perception separated me from the agony of a 'year wait', reducing it to 'waiting' in the moment. Maybe it was a mental breakdown, temporary insanity... or a 'key'... but ever since then... I have been able to 'wait' and though at times sad, at times angry, I always return to the perception that now is where I live, and all I can truly handle.

I utilized my time to do all I could 'now' so the future could be more promising.... I do not borrow stress from the future, I do all I can.. now.

I agree with your post. Taking it one day at a time instead of seeing this huge mountain in front of us definitely helps to live in the here

and now, to be mindful of the present time and hopeful for tomorrow. Had I known that after 4 years we still would not be together I would

have thought it impossible to make this journey ....but by setting one foot in front of the other.....we will get there. Eventually.

Its so deppressing. We have a one year and six month old baby. Everyday he learned new things and his daddy missing to see it. He visited us last november until december, but when he need to leave us again its a river flowing down my cheeks. Sometimes i just wish to receive an email saying our application denied so its over, i dont need to think,to wait, because i really dont like the feeling of wating until when?

i was told that by an officer who works in the i130 adjucation unit when i went for an infopass back in july 2013.

That might just be for the NYC office. (Although I've heard something similar for Newark. Except I think that they said they only work on it twice a MONTH.) Anyone who filed after Jan. of 2013 probably got sent to the NBC, though. I haven't heard about anyone who filed after that who actually got sent to a local office. The Service Centers appear to be working on them 5 days a week... Mostly.

The length of the wait that we were seeing on VJ when I applied was considerably shorter than what we've had to wait, and we're not even done with it yet. It's not that we weren't expecting to wait. But we made the best decision based on the information that we had available at the time. There was no way that we could have known that they were going to leave our application to gather dust for 7 1/2 months. I actually checked the information here and at other immigration sites, and they were consistently a 8-9 month wait from PD to POE.

I experienced the same thing. Before we got married, we were making a decision based on the information we had at the time. We decided to go with CR-1 route rather than K-1. It was the best decision at that time. If we had known what we know now, we would have gone with the K-1 so we could have been together sooner. Anyway, it is the past we can't undo anything.

I understand how depressed most of you feel. It is not easy for me either. But the way that keeps me going happily is "focus on the positives." I get to spend precious time with my parents, family and friends, whom I would not be seeing so often when our case is successful. I have my own goals to achieve during this waiting period, one of which is being physically fit by exercising a lot. This can not only keep your mind out of the miserable state, but also make you feel good about yourself. I value relationships I have had with friends and colleagues here in my home country so I spend time with them thinking I don't have whole lot of time with them in the future. I am trying to make the best out of this time by living my life at the present. I feel carefree since I have found my soul mate but at the same time I have all the time to hang out with other important people in my life as well.

We will get there some day. Be patient.
