Ok, I've seen somewhere on VJ a few people post the list of order of documents the DAY of the interview....but I don't know where I found it, or how to find it again. Can someone please help me? What are the documents, and in which order do they go in, and what else do I need to bring to the interview. This is for a CR1, permanent resident visa, in Rio de Janiero.

Some useful document organizing ideas can be found in this post.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;#entry617644

From the I-130 guide:

After the NVC or Consulate Abroad receives the above forms and supporting documents (which may not all be required to mail back at that time), an interview date will be scheduled for the intending immigrant at a consulate abroad. The NVC or the consulate abroad will send your relative a letter indicating at what time and day the interview is scheduled for, and of required forms that must be brought to the interview. Make two copies of each original document or piece of evidence below and bring them with you. Documents needed are:

Interview Forms / Items:

  1. Valid Passport.
  2. Original or certified "long" birth certificate. *
  3. Original adoption decree. (if applicable)
  4. Original or certified copy of the marriage certificate. (if applicable)
  5. Original death certificate. (if applicable)
  6. Original divorce decree. (if applicable)
  7. Police certificate. **
  8. Court record(s) (if applicable).
  9. I-864 Affidavit of Support Form along with past 3 year U.S tax returns (or transcripts) and any other financial documents required. (see poverty limits here)
  10. Court and prison records.(if applicable)
  11. Medical examination information
  12. Two passport-type photos (see specification) of the spouse or beneficiary

Hi Andrea and Roberto,

Merry Christmas!!!

This is the list. I got it from another fellow VJ and it helped me!

IMMIGRANT VISA REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

PUT THE DOCUMENTS IN THIS ORDER, THE COPIES REQUIRED BEHIND EACH ORIGINAL. Please arrange each person’s documents separately.

1. 1 FRONT VIEW PHOTO 5x5 or 5x7cm (name printed behind)

2. PASSPORT

3. FORM DS 230-II (not signed) if not submitted yet

4. BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND COPY

5. MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE AND COPY DIVORCE DECREE AND COPY (if applicable)

6. DEATH CERTIFICATE AND COPY (if applicable)

7. MILITARY SERVICE AND COPY (if applicable)

8. POLICE CERTIFICATE AND COPY (SECRETARIA DE SEGURANÇA PÚBLICA)

9. POLICE CERTIFICATE AND COPY (POLÍCIA FEDERAL)

11. POLICE CERTIFICATE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES (if applicable)

12. MEDICAL EXAM (sealed)

13. AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT (for family based visas only)

- Form I-864 or I-134,

- last federal income tax,

- proof of current job (if necessary) and

- proof of citizenship or greencard

14. JOB OFFER (for employment based visas only)

15. PROOF OF SCHOLARSHIPAND COPY (DV visas only)

When you get to the consulate they will let you in and then a security guard will give you a number. Then a lady will come into the room and give each person the list of documents for their type of visa. After about 10 minutes they will call each number in order and you'll come in and give them the documents. They will go over them with you to see if everything is there, etc... Then after about 20-30 minutes they start calling people into another little room for the interview and that's not in the same order as the first time (you'll still keep the same number). I believe they call people in according to the organization of the documents. We were 7th in line and were the 4th to be called in for the interview. The interview took about 5-10 minutes. The consular officer asked us how long we knew each other and how long we were married. Then he asked us to explain it (cuz we got married after 3 months of knowing each other!). We also got asked:

- Have either of you been married before?

- Do you have any diseases (to me, the immigrant)?

- What do you do (to him, the USC)?

- I can see you lived in the Netherlands, why did you go there?

- You lived in Japan...and then I said that we both lived there together.

The only extra thing we had to give them was his 2005 Tax Return Receipt because we hadn't filed it yet when we sent the I-864 in. That was it!! We brought tons of proof of relationship and nothing was asked. They got my old passport and cancelled my tourist visa. We got the CR1 visa the next day and caught a flight home the same evening!

Good luck to you both and if you have any other questions just let me know. And since I am already here and you prefer to talk to me, PM me your number and I'll call you!
