Thank you so much, Niki. You always help me.

I just called USCIS and found out that they sent I 797 to me and it is in the mail. When I talked to Customer Service, she said she did not have access to check what is this. But I can call them if I dont receive on Jan 10, 2014 as my case status is in process since Dec 10, 2013.

I 797 is the approved green card? The system did not tell me I 797 A or C or anything. When I checked it showed as "approved". Am I getting the green card in the mail soon?

Form I-797: Types and Functions

USCIS uses numerous types of Form I-797 to communicate with customers or convey an immigration benefit. Form I-797 is NOT a form you can fill out. The chart below gives a brief description of each:

I-797B, Notice of Action Issued for approval of an alien worker petition. I-797C, Notice of Action Issued to communicate receipt of payments, rejection of applications, transfer of files, fingerprint biometric, interview and re-scheduled appointments, and re-open cases. I-797D Accompanies benefit cards. I-797E, Notice of Action Issued to request evidence. I-797F, Transportation Letter Issued overseas to allow applicants to travel.

Have you tried putting your IOE number into the USCIS case status page? Sometimes that gives you information? https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus.do

thank you, Niki. I just checked and it shows "initital status". What does it mean? I heard the same message when I called to USCIS.

Well you said it's optimized on Elis right? That means they've married up the paperwork from your POE and your payment on ELIS for the green card production. They'll let you know when it's produced and then when you check the case status sometimes it gives details about the shipping. Just keep checking back. :)

Oh we have lots of snow, but as I spent the last 10 years in Central Alberta and grew up in the Okanagan, I'm used to snow and cold. This is a cakewalk! LOL The hardest part for me is getting used to a rear wheel drive Jeep vs my front wheel drive cars I've always had. At least I have the 4x4 option if I need it though.

I had never been to Alberta but some of my friends told me. When I went to change the driving license here, they need my green card or Alian number on my passport. I told them this is registration number in my passport but they want to see Alian number clearly. So, they suggested me to go local USCIS to write this on my passport or wait the green card to do this. Since it is in Optimized I was waiting the green card in the mail and havent received till today. I was always happy to take bus or train in Toronto but there is not much bus available here. So, I cant move till he comes back even for grocery, phewww.

yeah I understand how frustrating it is. Even after I got my green card it took 3 months to get my driver's license because they had to fix my SAVE database. /facepalm
