At first, I thought people with the same bio dates would be put into the same batch, but I was wrong.

My experience from the AOS is that they already had some kind of decision before I came in. I was approved in a heartbeat without having to show anything. My presence there was only to confirm their decision.

Same thing could apply to ROC, they must have pulled some kind of check beyond background check before you submit your evidences. If your evidences are decent enough, you will get approved immediately by some first tier screeners. Otherwise you will be sent to other USCIS specialists (tier 2). They will then investigate your application in details and approve it/RFE/interview.

So if I am correct, there will be at least 2 tiers of IOs. If you are lucky to get approved by first tier IO, you will hear back very quickly. If you are unlucky and got sent, you will have to wait more, knowing that any movement inside USCIS will take forever.

I agree to it to some extent, recently somebody told me that they already have some system to find out whether you are living together or just faking.

But they would not want to run background check before submitting application, because they want to see the history for 2 years not before that in the middle.

There is standard time of 6 months for whole process but there should be 2 or 3 months time frame after bio for ending initial review stage at least.

ROC sent (DAY 00) -2/21/2014

ROC received at center (DAY 03) -2/24/2014

NOA received at home (DAY 07) -2/28/2014 (NOA dated 2/24/2014)

BIO received at home (DAY 12) -3/05/2014 (bio appt on 3/20/2014)

BIO appt (early bio) (DAY 12) -3/05/2014

Approval decision date (DAY 89) -5/21/2014

Approval letter received (DAY 91) -5/23/2014

Card received at home (DAY 102)-6/03/2014

I don't know. My case got approved in 3 months and 15 days after submission. Pretty quick turn-around in my opinion, and I see other people with the same timeline are still waiting. There has to be a system or at least first tier IO who separate applications into potentially easy/difficult cases.

From what I've read here on VJ, each case is dealt with by one adjudicator who decides to approve it or not, I've never read about a 2-step or 2-tier process. Before that, applications just wait on a shelf.

Seeing that I haven't been approved yet although people who filed after me already were, in your system I would be sent for further review, but I don't think my case is "difficult". It's pretty straightforward and the amount of strong evidence we sent was a lot larger than most lists I see here. Who knows.

I understand. I am no USCIS expert by any mean. It was more of a small talk.

But one thing I know for fact that government work takes very long time to process. Take DMV as a prime example.

Hi All,

Received my 10-year GC today, that was fast. Got approved on 8 May and received the card today 13 May.

I was walking guard duty in front of my mail box :jest: and the mail person dropped it in my warm hand, Yippeeeeeee!

Only one step left, good luck to all that are waiting for their approval I hope it will be quick.

I'm right there with you R and L, NOA1 date 3 days after yours (pat on the back). It is annoying to see people who filed after us getting approved, even though I'm happy for them.

So I finally talked to a tier 2 rep at the USCIS service center: nothing gone wrong with my case, no RFEs sent, biometrics cleared, just waiting for officer to adjudicate. That's comforting in a way, there's nothing particular to worry about. I'm not too good at being patient but it helps knowing there's no major error not being addressed.

The tier 2 rep also briefly described the process: as soon as a package is accepted, it's assigned to one officer, who will eventually review it. I guess R and L and I just got the guy who's backlogged...

I meant to reply to this post but ended up voting it up.

I wish what you said were true. But it isn't. If they had a system to find out there would be no ROC and the world would be a better place.

Believe me, I live in California and green card marriages are rampant, just like welfare frauds. As far as I know they all get away with it. Happy ending: Foreign "spouse" gets the Green Card, US citizen "spouse" pockets $50,000 without having to live together a single day. In some cases, the "couple" barely know each other.

Sad! Sometimes I wish I had never been born or had been born back in the dinosaur age.

Approved!!

I received the e-mail at 6am this morning, card production was ordered yesterday May 13th! Obviously the tier 2 rep I talked to yesterday couldn't see it, or it hadn't been approved yet.

Now crossing all fingers and toes for R and L to receive the good news today too!
