I recieved my NOA1 on 1/7 but still no biometrics appointment. At this point I am starting to freak out, anyone have any idea what the hold up is?

Our check was cashed today! :)

Does anyone know whether or not USCIS would issue me an I-551 stamp for travel, after we receive our NOA1, since my status was previously terminated due to late filing? My Mom has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and hubby & I desperately want to be by her side in Canada right now. I've copied & pasted my previous post so you can review the situation we have created for ourselves. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

So our case is a little more unusual. We made the HUGE mistake of filing our I-751 REALLY late! My status expired in Jan. 2013 and we attempted to file in June 2013. I even considered voluntary departure just so we could leave...but was advised against it...just in case of any "barring" issues because I have 2 stepchildren here in the US and it would be devastating to be kept away from them.

So here's where we are...

01/27/2013 I-751 package re-sent "overnight" to the Caliornia USCIS location (this is our third attempt to file)

01/28/2013 Package received at California USCIS location; and signed for.

Please say a prayer for us that all goes well. I don't believe that the one year work & travel extension will apply to me because my status was terminated....however I have read of cases where people in our shoes got an I-551 stamp in their passport and were able to travel. If you have any knowledge or experience with this type of thing, we would love to hear from you! We are willing to do anything to get to Canada to be with my Mom without having to wait months for my final green card before we can leave. We welcome all advice and assistance!

In the meantime, I will continue to update our progress in case we can help anyone who is in a similar situation.

I recieved my NOA1 on 1/7 but still no biometrics appointment. At this point I am starting to freak out, anyone have any idea what the hold up is?

We filed ROC for my wife and son. The biometrics appointment for Olga came quickly; however, we have not received anything for her son yet. I am hoping that his biometrics appointment will be on the same date. It would be inconvenient to make two trips for prints and picts.

Hopefully, most of the VSC staff were Seattle fans, and life is good in Vermont-land today. rofl.gif

We filed ROC for my wife and son. The biometrics appointment for Olga came quickly; however, we have not received anything for her son yet. I am hoping that his biometrics appointment will be on the same date. It would be inconvenient to make two trips for prints and picts.

Hopefully, most of the VSC staff were Seattle fans, and life is good in Vermont-land today. rofl.gif

That does not make sense at all. I'm getting impatient and I think I will call tomorrow just to make sure it's not lost in the mail or they sent it to my old address or a dog ate it, it could happen :)
