We are going to file the I-130 Monday and then we were planning on filing the I-129F for the K3 Visa to get around the waiting time. I understand that only the CR / IR1 visa uses the I-834 financial support docs which also has an additional form for a co-sponser. The I-134, to my knowledge, does not have a co-sponser form.

I am a full-time college student and single dad and my income alone does not meet the requirments. I was going to use my parents as a co-sponser to meet the requirments, as the I-834 allows.

What do you do if you MUST use the I-134 form. Is there a co-sponser option? What income requirments do they look for in the I-134.

If I am out of luck, should we just do the CR1 so I can use I-184 with co sponser so I can meet the income requirments?

Your co sponsor will also do an I-134 form and supply financial evidence for it.

When you do adjust status in the US then you can use I-864, along with your co-sponsor.

Oh I see. My co-sponser just fills out an additional I-134? Must I list any extra information on it such as "co-sponser"?

And is there any limit to how many sponsers an applicant may have. Don't want some interviewer tryin to claim inability to support, because my family is by no means poor... just me b/c im a studend :o

A person can only have 1 co-sponsor. No additional information is needed The co-sponsor is sponsoring the Non-immigrant from time of entering the country until status is adjusted, at that point you will use I-864 and co sponsor also uses I-864.

Thank you for your information and quick response. I feel better.

Are the interviewers really ####### about these things.

Lets say we supply all forms and evidence needed. Everything is correctly filled out. We exceed the financial requirments via joint sponser.

Are they "allowed" to deny it based on their judgement, even if the facts presented to them are suffecient and true?

Also, I know we are only to answer what is asked... but would it be wise for her to state that my income is low (but not that low) due to me being a full-time college student. And should she also mention I am in the Air Force delayed enlistment program. Would providing proof of those statements help ?

As long as you provide solid evidence of a serious relationship you should do fine. It is a judgement call for the consular officer to grant or deny, they look at all the evidence presented, things like how long you have know your spouse, how long together, how many visits you have had with her, keep a log of emails, chats, phone calls, and build a lot of solid evidence.

You don't need to provide an explanation about why your income is low, they will see from your paper work that you are a student and understand that your income is low because of that. What they are more concerned about is whether or not your benificiary will be come a charge of the state, your co sponsor will ensure that she will not.

Also later when you do adjust status, if you are in the military, your income level only needs to make 100% of the poverty line for the affidavit of support I-864.

douglaslovin,

The term 'co-sponser' is meaningless with respect to K visas. The consular officer is either going to be satisfied that someone will be making sure the visa applicant is financially taken care of after entering the the USA or they are not going to be satisfied.

Recognize that there are two issues here, not just ability to support but also likely to support. The anecdotal evidence is that the consular officers in the Philippines have a rather conservative view, but it doesn't get any better than parents of the petitioner.
