I may be inquiring on the wrong thread... I am a US Citizen, born and raised. I met my husband through his sister (old college friend of mine) and we were married in Istanbul in May 2014. My husband is from and currently resides in Iran. He has never been to the US and traveled Europe for work before the sanctions were put into place. He has never over stayed a visa.

As soon as I got back to the US I filed his i-130 and it was assigned to the Nebraska office with an acceptance date of June 02, 2014. So far there has been no change to his status on the USCIS website (before the site updated and status viewing was available) and I called Customer Service on 11/24. I have been advised they are working on the May 16 petitions and that I could go online and file an official inquiry as to the delayed processing time. I did that already about three weeks ago and have not yet heard back. I just miss him and feel like this is going to be never-ending. Anyone else experiencing a delay at the Nebraska office or is it because of his nationality?

On this thread you have ppl who are waiting with PD of January 2014... That's at least 6 months more of waiting on top of what you have done so far. We were all stuck in the extra security checks hold. Each case is unique and one can't say for sure that his nationality is the caus . I would say that they will carefully screen him as he comes from a not so safe part of the world right now. Just pray and start preparing for the next ste .

Thank you for the insight, I did not get to read all of the posts in this thread but saw a few and started to feel pretty glum about our future. I guess I expected that the USCIS would follow through on their estimated time of 5 months for the i-130. I really hope everyone in the process ahead of me gets processed first. This is really unfortunate - I know that Iran is certainly not viewed as a friend of the US right now, but hopefully the security checks will be fast.

I will pray for you. Could their be something in the background that's causing the delay? Past visa requests, over stays?

Thank you so much for all the prayers Empress JA and mstee81 , I really appreciated!

I don’t have any past visa, I just don’t understand!

They check his background at this point too. Depending on the country the check to see if the marriage was done to the stands of that country to ensure that it valid. His name be be the same as some not so good people and they have to make sure he is ok to come. I would call them once a week and keep sending off service requests as well as follow up with the senator's office.

Thank you, I will do that! Isn’t that going to cost them a lot of money to do a background check on the beneficiary?

I'm not sure but that's what they are doing now.
