Congrats and good luck with NVC

Ok, since I'm new at this, I'm confused as to why people say "good luck with NVC". Isn't this waiting for the i130 the worst of all the steps? Or is there really a reason why we need to have luck at NVC? Please anyone respond, thanks!

Its because there's so much delay (4 to 8 weeks just to get your petition there) then the wait for case# then invoice and being so precise to make sure your Affidavit of Support is filled out. I swear the checklist rate (issues and mistakes) is like 75% and that can cost you weeks if not months.

What use to be a 20 to 30 day process at NVC is now 3 to 4 months

I pray you have read the NVC Process wiki back and forth while you are waiting.

It will be fine just recheck and check again all your forms and patience at this level is a must. Because you are so close and can smell that case complete and interview (another nightmare of a wait especially for your embassy I am afraid). So luck, blessings whatever you want to call it. Patience is a must. All the best.

So it's not really 1 year average that it takes from what you're saying for a US Citizen to bring his/her spouse over and live happily ever after? And as far as the required docs for NVC, where can I get a list of these so I can fill them out now and when I get to the next step be ready? Thanks for the replies!

It can be a year I know new filers are getting approved at USCIS at 5 months or less. It all depends on how fast you get approved then NVC. You do have some control and making sure you pay and send in documents immediately. The wait for interview well that's just a country specific thing and DR is none too fats.

Here is the NVC Process Wiki with all you need to know and prepare. You can have everything done now and ready to mail off.

Like ordering your tax transcripts now 2013, 2012, 2011. things like that. Go read and come back if you have questions. I know its alot but should get better.

Last question: You mentioned to get transcripts of my taxes for all those years, so is it ok to order transcripts literally, or do they want the original (which I will take forever to find since I recently moved)? My wife and I are desperate for this to pass by, but we don't have any other choice. You mentioned that the DR is taking long, but now in June from what I understand, they opened a giant new embassy which is 3 times the size of the original so I'm not sure if the staff is as well bigger.

Transcripts re preferred by NVC and embassy much easier because you don;t need to send in W2 and other schedules. The tax transcript is proof you filed your taxes and easy.

So just go on IRS.gov and either order and get online or have mailed takes 7 days. And its great to have all 3 just in case only the most current is required to include though the rest just have for interview just in case. But you also have it I am sure you don;t know the amounts and such and its just good to have.

DR embassy has always been a bit slow usually 2 to 3 months at times. Last few months because of the move they like stopped fro May and June and started back up again.

congrats to the recent approvals. Soooo nice to see Nebraska starting on January. There are so many people in the December thread who aren't even approved from the beginning of december....maybe its just longer security checks for some people. Come on January Group!!!!!!! I hope we get more approvals this week!!
