Hi guys! I am new to this forum but notice alot of useful info being passed around!!

My husband (american citizen) filed i130 for me (im british citizen) on 14th March 2014. He then received an email a few days after saying that the papers had been received on 18th March 2014. Its now 20th April 2014 and we havent heard anything since. I know processing can take up to 10months or so and I may well just be being impatient but is there really no way I can track the progress of my paperwork?? I understand there was a backlog in oct 2013, but what is the processing time looking like now??

What if theyve sent a letter but it's just got lost in the post or something?? How will I or my partner know??

Any help appreciated!!

PROGRESS!!

so ive been checking the uscis tracking site and today saw that the processing times have come back down to standard 5m!!! woohoo!! so that means i still have another 2.5m before we hear anything about more evidence etc.

my q now is that does the decision come at the end of these 5m (as my app is still under Initial Review) or does the app form BEGIN to get processed after 5m (in which case a decision would come much later). and IF no further evidence is needed, how long does the process take after these 5m are up and a *positive* decision has been made? my research tells me that a few extra forms are requested usually to finalise the process but what have your experiences taught you?? how long after the initial 5m did you have to wait before you can legally travel to spouse?

Officially 5 months today (priority date is January 9th). No update whatsoever, wonder how long I should wait before opening an eservice request.

I am also confused with this timeframe. They have declared as of April 30th 2014. So we need to calculate 5 months from that or today.

My understanding is the clock starts ticking the moment you get your NOA1. So add 5 months from that before you start getting antzy. For example: your NOA1 date is January 1, 2014. Add 5 months brings you to June 1, 2014 At this point you can start calling USCIS but I no action will be taken by USCIS as its still within their 5 month average timeframe. They will tell you wait another 30 days before taking action (calling again or emailing). So, should 30 more days pass and still no action, this is when you put in a service request.

Its best not to get obsessed with time. You will find out sooner or later.

What's a service request?

its when nothing has been done on your case and its approaching 30 days after the 5 or 6 month processing time. it is where you are asking uscis to investigate why your case has had no action on it. basically your nudging uscis to get moving on approval. my understanding is uscis replies something like....you should hear back from us within 30 days.

Congrats to everyone on the recent approvals. sadly for me they seem to all be coming from centers all except NSC... just happens to be where my files at. geez! & i'm 7 days away from my 5 months. pd jan 17... but i already know it's going to be more than five months.. NSC is barely working on december! Then again they don't even go in any order.... luck of the draw!! The closer it's getting the harder its getting...has anyone called recently to see what pd they are working on?
