That's because it is not what happened. Bush didn't bend to public pressure to invade Iraq. His administration carefully herded the nation into supporting the effort by working hard to fabricate a link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11.

And as for the great coalition building, well we all know what a grand coalition he built. 45 countries were on the list of supporters. Including regimes such as Eritrea. Going in with US troops? Well, that grand colaition was 4 strong - the US, UK, Australia and Poland. The later contributed less than 200 troops, Australia committed barely 2,000. So, really, it was the US and the UK going in. Oh but Palau and Tonga supported the US. laughing.gif

I've been to Palau, if you call that support, I got some snow to sell you; we've been snowed in for 2 days!

Why you dissin' Palau? They were willing. Not able but willing.

Because we got stranded on that island for the duration of our liberty port. A really bad storm rolled in and we were shipwrecked so to speak. The island was so small, I think they only have a few hotels, we were seven guys to one room. Please no jokes.devil.gif

People can be hered with nationalism. Just look at how this country was herded into an illegal and idiotic war. And that happened more than once.

Are you bring Obama into this again?

Okay, since you mention it,..... he was all for invading Afghanistan (A sovereign nation .... they always like to add that) was Obamer herded or was he the lone person to want war all on hi s own?

Let me see if I'm tracking:

When Bush was in office, it wasn't on him, just the folks that agreed on his decision to invade Iraq and Afghanistan.

When Obama is in office, it's not his administration, but the blame rests on him.

Is that right?

This is the reason we should have stayed out, and not have gotten or get involved in Libya, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, Africa, or any other place..

I think there is such a thing as a just war, WW2 would be an example of that, Iraq not so much.

Iraq was depressing because it was so obvious that it was being fought for the interest of corporate business - the Blackwaters and Halliburtons who got all those no bid contracts worth hundreds of billions. Bush et al sold it as a vital defence of American liberty and that it was a last resort. Clearly more than a few Americans bought into that.

In the rest of the world the feeling was very much that the USA wanted a war with Iraq and just wanted to find evidence to fit. If you said as much to people in the US in the years immediately after 9/11 you were labeled a traitor.

No more than when Bush was in office it was all his fault. It took both sides of the aisle, so stop blaming one side only

Same thing with Obama, those that supported it are equally guilty

I am fair and balanced

I think everyone raising hell about Obama's vacation are the same one's that were pissed when the liberal media roasted Bush for his and Vice-Versa

When you're talking about an international foreign policy (like a war) that some USC's was decided upon after a process of due consideration by the then administration, the foreign perspective is quite pertinent I'd say.

Of course 'who cares' wasn't untypical of what a lot of Americans were saying at the time - hence the backlash against teh French. As I said, nationalist jingoism.

I guess I need to put a smiley face or something like that after my post when I'm joking. Ohh yeah, screw the French. We saved their a$$ in WWII. tongue.png

Talk to your man crush Danno, I was asking the question since when it's Bush, it's anyone else but him. Obama, it's all him even when it's not.
