My fiance has his medical 13th January and our petition approval expires on 28 Feb. I know the likelihood of getting and interview before then may be a stretch. Should I go ahead and send the notarized Letter of Intent now or wait and see? Are the wait times still 4-6 weeks after everything is gathered for an interview to be scheduled?

Just send it to cover all possibilities. Usually your bank will notarized free. Mail it the cheap way (first class postage) so you don't realize you need it and have to pay $60 or whatever to overnight it at the last minute.

Might as well send it just in case. As said above send by normal post, it's only just over a dollar for a standard letter and seems to take about a week.

The 797 doesn't expire till 28/02. He'll be here 22nd of January for a week, so I'm just going to send it home with him then.

Yeah, but surely it needs to be signed for after the expiry date ? Or am I missing a trick here?

Don't think the date matters, as long as it is an updated letter since the original one in the petition. Most consulates don't even ask for that, and London didn't always.
