... it's called expedites for victims of typhoon Yolanda. They get priority.

Thanks for the response Hank! That's all fine and dandy but they should not take your money if they can't provide an appointment date. So now what, wait for the case to "age out" and get an emergency appointment in 2 months ? Interesting - so all these victims of yolanda are somehow getting K1 Visa's to the U.S. ?

Well, by taking your money it insures a couple of things; one is that you are still serious about attaining your visa (some drop out by now do issues in their relationship or money). The process timeline before was that you were able to get an appointment sooner then what you are experiencing now without and extended period. So the "new" experience is that the Embassy is very busy accommodating Yolanda expedites hence long wait between payment of fees and actual interview.

Cases are not aging out so don't get so far ahead of yourself.

Yes, the K1 victims of Yolanda are getting "special treatment" as they have lost the most and need to be helped and this is a small way in which the US Gov't has responded to Yolanda as well as other help to the victims of this horrific tragedy.

So I suggest you sit back and relax and have some patience and the trip will go much smoother. You might want to read some of the other threads to get a better idea what you are personally able to do to speed your process. I'll even help you with this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/500549-stuck-in-5th-gear-need-help-with-mnl-consular-interview-k-1-scheduling/

Good luck and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Your not the only one that has been affected by these chain of events.

hey Greenbaum thanks for the clarification and link ! that helps alot for my sanity hehee - I'm actually using C4C

Just curious, my fiance had family in the typhoon yolanda, they are ok now - does that qualify or is only for k1 applicants that were actually living in Tacloban ?

We were supposed to attend an event in New York in August but I guess that's out the window :( everything happens for a reason I guess..

No, all those that were applying for immigrant visas have been expedited (K-1 just happens to be process by the immigrant visa unit). I think their situation desires priority and consideration, after all it is not about the inconvenience of having to wait for an appointment with them... it is about not having a roof over their heads.

My best friend's family owns a business in Tacloban and they saved about 50 people who swam up to their 3rd or 4th story concrete building.. Then in the following days all of their roofing supplies were stolen. Understandable considering the situation...

Hooyah. My computer started playing a musical word "Changes" about 1235 in the afternoon. Went to the page and I grabbed an interview for 24 July. The C4C tip is outstanding! Thanks to everyone for the info on this page.

You do understand how lucky you got I hope. :)

Took me and mine a month of 24/7 to be able to snag a date that we could use.

But, but, we did.

So feeling lucky in a way here too.
