The Majority of Military Sexual Assault Victims Are Men. ( How could Danno have been so right?)

I'm not talking about bisexuality. Bisexuality, you're attracted to both. Do you think someone who is bisexual CHOSE to be attracted to both though?

If I was to guess, I would say its nearly all from birth. But environment plays a role in nearly everything for humans so I'd have to say this would be no exception. No way I can claim that environment has 0% to do with sexuality.

I would say so as well.

This would explain why people that were beaten straight while growing up still feel drawn to - or are outright obsessed with - literature, articles, research, discussions and visual images of gays.

That's more of the genetic thing surfacing after an attempt to repress. Look guys, I don't think people choose to be gay. BUT, humans are complicated and there's tons of shades of gay. Some like both sexes, some like both, some think they should have been the other sex, and on and on. Environment is powerful and to say it has nothing, at all, to do with any part of sexuality, whether it be cultural norms or desires or whatever, is short sighted IMO.

But like Papa L said, who cares anyway? It shouldn't affect anyone other than the two that decide that's what they want to do.

Exactly! All this wasted time over whether or not homosexuality is natural. What difference does it really make in the end? Let people live the lives they want to live and take care of yourself.

Would you say environment plays no role in any case?

It's hard to say, really. I can't undermine the impact our environment has on us as people. But I know some gay people whose parents knew from a very young age they would be gay. What was it about their environment that made it clear at such a young age?

Danno made the comment that for some, being gay was clearly a choice. I don't think I've ever come across a gay person who has said that.

You know someone who made the choice to be gay or straight? How'd that happen? When did they choose?

Marriage is often the cause of men turning gay.

Seriously, I live in an area with a high gay population, and many are my clients. As folks get older, it is less about sex, and more about companionship. Guys just have more in common with other guys, and the same for women. Sex is just sex. It is a bodily function, just like going to the bathroom. You can decide to pee on a tree, or use a toilet. That is a conscious decision, and for many of the gays I know, it is that simple.

That's a hard pill to swallow.

I believe that when you juxtapose both comments, we all realize that the entire thread is not predicated on the issue of sexual assault so much as it is a referendum on the life of others.

There is nothing that justifies a sexual assault on anyone. This is no different than the ever present 'she was asking to be raped, wearing that dress', as a means to justify rape.

We can discuss homosexuality as much as we want, however no one deserves to be sexually assaulted, regardless of whether sexual orientation is a choice of not.

I maintain that all this gay bashing is nothing but self flagellation possibly resulting form self loathing.
