You can still marry in the USA, the beneficiary cannot move to the USA until there is a visa granted.

For working and travel purposes, as well as actual visa costs the CR1 is better. However if the beneficary lives in BC or AB you may want to consider a K1 as the costs of travel to Montreal may outweigh the benefits. I was from AB and still chose the CR1 as I needed to be able to travel asap and wanted to be able to work or collect EI right away

But if I didnt answer your question correctly, the only way to start on the CR1 path is for the US spouse to send the petition package to the Chicago lockbox. It's not just the best way, it's the only way. LOL

If you are married the only place you can have the visa interview is in Montreal. If you engaged and doing the K1 you can interview in Vancouver or Montreal. That's it.

Both Canadian citizens, can we fly from Canada to LA to marry there, file for I130?

Petitioner would go back to Canada and the Alien Relative will stay.

Is it possible to do that or that's tricky?

Thanks and happy new year!

Wait, you're both Canadian citizens???
