I'm so frustrated with the Santa Ana office. They are so far behind - so why not hire more people to process applications? Why have people work with information that is 2 months out of date? Today is May 23rd and all we know is that as of March 31st they were processing applications dated September 22nd but the national goal is to process them within 5 months. It has been 4 months for me now since my receipt date and 3 months since I have been placed in line for an interview. Considering how much we pay to have our applications processed you would think they would have the staff to process them in a timely fashion. I'm losing my patience. I called immigration and they just reiterated what everyone knows - they are behind, have a large volume of work, are processing as of September 22nd (as of March 31st). Very frustrating process.

Thanks for the feedback....am with you on the frustration part.

Upon seeing some personal trackers posted online, I noticed that people who filed in October and even November have followed the national timeline, while Jan folks with Santa Ana who have posted on this forum are getting delayed immensely.

I agree avie! My question is why don't they hire or transfer more people to this office to deal with the workload? We pay a lot of money for them to process the applications in a timely manner so why are they not being processed within the national target of 5 months? It's not our fault that we need to go through the Santa Ana office and it would be appropriate for the government to adjust their workforce to meet the demand.

I feel for you - I don't think the government is ever going to do something logical though ;P

Honestly the timelines are faster than a couple years ago for most - my daughter just had her interview over a month faster than I did at the same office 2 years ago.

Status as of March 31 showing Sept 22, 2013 was posted on May 6. They should update the Processing Timeframe for Santa Ana in a couple of weeks. They might be late doing that as well :)

My N-400 been "in-line for interview sked" since Jan 31. That'll be 4 full months by the weekend. Bummer for sure. It's made it difficult to make plans as well.

I know! I am sort of stalking your status updates :-) You are about 3 weeks ahead of me and I keep hoping you will change your status to interview has been scheduled so I can see that mine will be about 3 weeks away too. I'm sorry it is talking so long for you too. But HOPEFULLY by the end of the summer you and I will be holding our new US passports in our hands.

I wouldn't worry about it much. Oklahoma City is processing at almost 8 months, as opposed to the 5 month average. They aren't going to rearrange the workforce because your office is off by a couple of months -- a year, maybe. two months? nope

I am Jan filer too. I was so depressed with my application N400 for 3 months. Waiting for my letter to appear in my mailbox but it never come. Finally my nightmare is over. I called them 4 times and finally someone follow up my case and my biometric is done on the 5/19 and online status is up to date. I am looking forward for my interview now.

All Jan Santa Ana filers -

seems like things may be moving. My husband and I both got online notification of 'On May 29, application has been scheduled for interview, with letter to follow.'

Just a note that our priority dates were Jan 8 and 9, biometrics on Aprl 14, and in line for interview on April 16.

Fingers crossed for smooth and speedy movement hereon.

I'm so frustrated with the Santa Ana office. They are so far behind - so why not hire more people to process applications? Why have people work with information that is 2 months out of date? Well, mine N400 was sent in Mid January, and my status has been in line for scheduling, since Feb 11th. My local office is currently still processing applications dated August 23rd, 2013, slower than your office. And just like you, I called today and was told in a inpatient and rude manner that they are busy, just wait. I think it will be the end of 2014 when i get mine done, I thought I could be voting this November, but I guess not.

Because it's perfectly acceptable for gov't employee to not finish their job on time, while in private sector such emplyee will be fired.
