I find it surprising that despite having different Local Offices, the time line for interviews are not that drastically different among these local offices. For example, NYC is suppose to be one of the busiest and slowest yet, I got the letter on April 14 and interview scheduled for May 20th.

Wonder if the local offices get files transferred from NBC on a defined time line i.e every other week/month, etc.

After yesterday's interview, I got 3 notices from USCIS, "evidence request", "Evidence request review" and this within 24 hours:

"Your Case Status: Oath Ceremony

On April 16, 2014, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. "

Isn't this crazy?!

NYC Manhattan office is the most back-logged local office. Anyone whose "zip-code" is outside of Manhattan (e.g. Brooklyn, LI, Queens, Bronx) are some what on track. I was placed in line for interview on November 18, 2013. I was scheduled for interview on April 1st, 2014. I waited for nearly 5 months just to get scheduled. By the last week of March I was extremely worried and made a service request. That is when the tier 2 officer explain the "zip-code" classification to me. Apparently all the offices fall under the NYC district office but the NYC district office is further sub-divided into local offices for each borough. These local office vary in their processing times.

The Manhattan residents who filed in October are still waiting for their interviews to be scheduled where as people with the same priority dates whose local office is Holtsville or Queens are done with this process.

Fair point and it makes sense.

I did review some of the time lines from October/November and saw pending interview cases. Which is part of the reason I ended up booking my trip for mid-May and now unfortunately I have a conflict.

Now that I have realized that I need to have the interview rescheduled, I am trying to guess-timate how long will it take Queens office to process my request. It took them about three months to schedule from the day they placed me in line, I am estimating its going to take them another 3 months to reschedule - oh well!

I have my interview scheduled for 5/17 which falls on a Saturday. Not sure if uscis works on weekends. Anyone with a similar experience or know someone that was interviewed on a Saturday?

Hi all,

Received my wife's interview notice April 17 (printed Apr 14). Her interview is for May 20. Unfortunately, we're going to be out of the country attending a wedding. So I just called the USCIS number to reschedule. Hopefully it won't be an issue with NYC field office. Seems like a valid reason right as she is the matron of honor at her friend's wedding?

But as M+M said, it might take 3 months to reschedule.

Update on my mom's application.

After more than 3 months since her receipt date, my mom finally received her biometrics appointment today!

I guess there is a slightly longer wait in Houston compared to where I am in Kansas.

Updated dates. Biometrics appt. originally scheduled 01/31/14 but letter got lost in the mail. Made infopass appt 30 days after application. Second appointment given a few days after. Goodluck to those who are still waiting! :)

have my interview scheduled for 5/17 which falls on a Saturday. Not sure if uscis works on weekends. Anyone with a similar experience or know someone that was interviewed on a Saturday?

I didnt know that you could call USCIS to reschedule. Did you talk to first or second level? What did you ask them to do (create a ticket or reschedule)?

Curious how you did that.

Hi all,

Received my wife's interview notice April 17 (printed Apr 14). Her interview is for May 20. Unfortunately, we're going to be out of the country attending a wedding. So I just called the USCIS number to reschedule. Hopefully it won't be an issue with NYC field office. Seems like a valid reason right as she is the matron of honor at her friend's wedding?

But as M+M said, it might take 3 months to reschedule.

I am officially a U.S. Citizen yesterday! There were only 16 applicants in my ceremony. It took about 45 min from start to finish. My hubby thought it's kinda boring but, I was in tears when they played the song "God Bless America" because I am now officially an American and I'm so happy I'm finally DONE with the USCIS!!!! ;) I can finally say, I'm proud to be an American! It feels great that my Visajourney is over! I'm so very grateful for VISAJOURNEY and for all the members who helped me tremendously in my journey! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart! Praying for everyone who are still in this process to have an easy and speedy journey towards your Citizenship. Wish you all the best and Happy Easter! God bless you all and God bless America!
