It has been a month since I got my NOA in the mail, and I still have not received my bio appointment. I called USCIS about it, and after they gave me a 'referral number' , I was advised to wait for another 15-30 days to call if my bio appointment is still not in sight. Sigh.

I am posting on behalf of my 67-year-old mom, who filed for naturalization in January 2014. She received a notice of Initial Review by mail, email and text on January 15. But so far that's it. She hasn't received any letter for biometrics as of yet and I was wondering if the wait (2 months) for biometrics is this long. Has anyone experienced this long a wait to have fingerprints taken? She lives in Houston, TX. Thank you!

personally I would advice you to make an infopass and see what's going on. Take your mom with she might have to do a walk-in biometrics. Don't wait because I seen people who waited as USCIS hotline told them and then found out that they actually missed the appointment because the letter wasn't delivered. Good luck.

It's hard to predict as it varies by field office.

The problem with traveling after your oath ceremony is they take your green card away at the ceremony, and then to travel, you need a US passport, so if, say, you become a US citizen on March 28th and are traveling on April 1st, you will be required to present your US passport upon returning to the US. And if you don't have a passport, you're going to have a problem.

Thank you for your replies!

I do check her status online. My mom is somewhat clueless about using a computer or getting online so I try to help her as much as I can. I keep telling her to be patient, but I can understand her concerns. It has been roughly 6 weeks since her NOA and her status online has not changed from Initial Review. Her check has been cashed, just wondering if it's a matter of the biometrics notice not arriving and the status online not being updated regularly. I just went through my own N-400 process without a hitch (thankfully) and I was hoping it would be the same for my mom.

I will continue to wait and perhaps start calling on her behalf to see what is going on. I have heard of people walking in to get their biometrics done without appointments.... I wonder if my mom can do that? Also, do you guys think the USCIS will entertain my calling on my mother's behalf? She speaks excellent English but the problem is she works at a museum as a surveillance security guard on week days and cannot take her phone with her to work. Even then I don't know if she can stay on hold for a long time if she can get to a phone. Can she call on weekends?

I have the same question. My biometrics was done 3 weeks ago. Still no new update. It seems that some people get their interview a few days after their bio. I wonder if it depends on different lock box location or different cities/areas. I guess we have to be patient.

Mine was almost 3 weeks ago also. I know I am in line for interview scheduling but that is all I know. Hopefully we hear from them pretty soon!

HI Folks,

My wife just recieved a yellow letter from USCIS. Seems to indicate we have to bring more information to the interview. It stated we should bring state issue id, passport, and court document about wife's arrest.

My wife was detain when she first came to America because she had entered Illegally. This was the only time she was 'detained'. I had sent all the information we can find, but because we got married, she got approved for a Green Card which dismiss her case.

We did filed n-400 in January, and got biometric done on Feb 7th. Case online indicated we are place in line for Interview.

I'm sorta a panciky type of person so just wanted to know if anyone else experience getting this letter? Do you know if this will further delay the process? Just looking for recommendations.

Thanks,

HMCHIU

The yellow letter happens to a lot of people and is no cause for concern. It means nothing when it comes to the processing time of your case.
