Has anyone ever heard about a fiance visa interview that focus' on the character of the US citizen?

Fiance had interview in Pakistan a few days ago. The interview was done in his language and an interpreter in english was there as well. Three questions were asked about pakistani fiance's background. Then he was about to receive approval, when the interviewer was ushered into another office. He came back and began to bombard fiance with questions about his fiance in america. How did they meet on a chatroom? What was the initial topic discussed during the chatroom that led each other to one another? How can you marry, if your fiance is not muslim? When fiance explained about his fiance converting to islam, the interview said where is the certificate certifying that she is a muslim? Fiance interjects by saying that she converted 5 years prior and takes arabic classses at the mosque. The interviewer asks for proofs of those classes, and send through them through email. passport is not returned.

Is there a reason you posted this in the IMBRA forum, ie is there an IMBRA issue in your case? If not, I can move your topic. If yes, that will be the reason they asked about the fiancee.

I attended the interview with my husband. The CO asked him 3 or 4 questions about him and his background, the remainder of the questions were about me and my background, I was also questioned. It is normal for questions to be about the petitioner when there are red flags and differences in culture and religion. If you read threads you will see many interviews being more about the petitioner and not the beneficiary, they want to make sure you know who you are married to, or about to marry, and they want to make sure your relationship is bonafide. What happened to your fiancé is not abnormal.

My fiance was questioned about his address, and what he intends to do in the US. I was asked what I do in the US, what kind of wedding we want, and asked us both what we study in school. ISL tends to do extra security checking and way longer AP than any other country!

I appreciate the feedback, really...God willing the embassy will issue visa, and I understand that there are red flags regarding, a white person marrying a pakistani, but i wish there were more signs that would have indicated how the american petitioner could show their character, I am just asking that if people have similar cases to this that they show them on this site.

I believe myself to be an outstanding character in my community. I taught an an islamic school, I studied arabic, I went to fundraisers dedicated to helping orphans and the poor, if I would have known in advance that evidence of this would have been necessary, I would have gladly sent more proofs.

please if your petitioning for a fiance visa, help those who are struggling with issues of this nature, give the embassies absolutely no reason to deny future petitioners....

Sending proof about teaching Islamic school wouldn't have helped, They are looking for evidence of a bonafide relationship, not what you do for your community at home. I had a similar issue and I shared it. Pakistan is one of the most difficult countries for a male beneficiary to get a visa from, every little detail will be examined under a microscope. It is very common for the beneficiary to be questioned about who is petitioning them, it isn't about your moral character, it's about whether or not you are a true couple, they want to know how much he knows about you. The interview process for a fiancé or spouse is very much the same, they want you to,show an ongoing, bonafide, real relationship.

Look, US constitution guarantees freedom of religion.

I'm surprised they asked religion question, but it is not to validate who's religious, and whether you guys are religiously compatible.

The K1 visa is not about validating that.

Through these probing questions, they are trying to weed out fake frauds, whose real intention is to get to America

at all costs, including faking a marriage.

I think the best response could have been to focus on your love for each other and bona fide marriage sincerity.

Any religion conflicts your marriage may encounter in the future is totally personal matter between spouses,

and it should not be of concern to interviewers or effect the K1 visa processing.

But because you are dealing with highly religious country, I can see how they are using this to determine,

how deep and seriously you guys have discussed the marriage.

Good luck.

Hi, I had a question, and wander if you know what this means, or if you heard of anyone who got a message like this......we had interview in pakistan on jan 3rd and then they took passport from fiance and then we sent a few documents they requested and now status says, "application in final stages, if you don't get an email in 10 ten days, call embassy" does this mean it will be approved?
