Incredibly FAST Processing

This is a tragic statement and an insult to those hardworking, trained, well educated professional temps out there in the workplace.

Temps are not appropriate for jobs involving national security/immigration.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

 

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

 

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

I never said they were. Your comments still shows lack on knowledge of what a temp employee is.

I wonder if this is a translation/country thing (I note that I agreed with the other poster, also from the UK).

For example, I was a "temp" once when I graduated from university in the UK - I did this via a "temping agency" where I did odd-job admin work for offices (filing, data entry, stuff like that - for a few days or weeks at a time). The agency existed solely to find people like me who were not professionals to fill temporary voids in offices (usually due to them having too much work on, or having just lost an employee).

I was not working in a field I was trained to do, and not what I do as a career - I was just "temping" to earn some cash while I found a proper job in my field. Just a spare pair of hands.

The term "temp" in common parlance in the UK would refer to that sort of work (i.e. non-professional temporary help).

I think a "temp" in the US may be a broader term.

I don't believe I was being aloof. Merely trying to see if that explained the difference of opinion. It seems it does not.

We don't see many temps in that professional sense in the UK. We'd probably call them substitutes (or in the case of Doctors, we call them "locum" doctors).

I'm not saying that Americans in the USA who are temps are kids off the street. I was simply explaining what a "temp" tends to mean to people from the UK. It was supposed to provide a point of view, not an accurate statement on what a temp is in the USA. Hence my beginning with "I wonder..." as in "I wonder if this is true" not "This is true".

P.S. Genuine question - is there something I can do to appear less "aloof" to you? I don't intend to go around pissing anyone off - I just have a succinct style of responding, since I try to avoid being emotional when it's not required.

I have never considered temps to be someone who is fully qualified for a job but not having it. I've always thought of a temp is being someone who is just filling in a basic spot until they can either a) prove they can do the job or b) the period of time ends in which they are needed.

I suppose the equivalent in the retail world would be a seasonal employee. They may stay on if they're very good at the job but most often they leave when they aren't needed anymore. Most often they fill lower place jobs, vs higher up ones.

I don't think there are a bunch of screened and background checked, who are already trained to adjudicate petitions just waiting for a call from the USCIS to fill temp spots. Perhaps there are some qualified secretaries who can do some other types of office work to free up space for the people who know what they're doing to help the other adjudicators but i get the feeling that isn't the case either.

However, if that is what a temp is in the USA, I'll try to adjust my thinking towards the job position.

Actually, I believe that the USCIS was discussing trying to bring back former adjudicators to help when they were gearing up to deal with DACA. I think it was buried in that FOIA release that we found at judicialwatch. I don't remember if that was on a temp basis or for good, though. People who had already been trained to do adjudications would be qualified to do so despite it being a temp position, if that were the case.

I don't think temp employees in the USCIS or NVC setting are tasked to adjudicate applications. They are there to do mostly clerical work that takes time to complete but doesn't take a whole lot of training or experience to do like sorting paperwork, mailing out hard copies of stuff, photocopying, etc.

It was also my understanding (from that former adjudicator's post) that they have a non-governmental subcontractor that would do that kind of stuff and the staging at night. Who knows what the employment situation is there, though.

No they don't. A temp where I'm from is somebody brought in at entry level to do basic clerical work on a temporary basis. We hire them all the time where I work when our filing piles get too high.

See there you go. Moderators not letting us speak. No one has gotten disrespectful but I am about to get put back in VJ jail. I agree with you. We can agree to disagree, that is the beauty of a bord such as this but when you have meddling moderators interupting it's hard to carry on a conversation.
