Of course I will NOT buy his plane ticket until he has his visa in hands. I just wanted to know if I will be allowed to just buy a 1 way for him since he's coming to stay....or will it have to be round trip since he's traveling with a visa ..?

This is for Dom Rep

Can you travel to the Dominican Republic for the interview with a one way ticket since you do not know the date of your return. Will they give you trouble at customs?

If you decide on the RT, please cancel the return leg. There is a thread here on VJ about the I-94 being canceled due to the airlines not removing the passenger's name from the manifest and the CBP had that person listed as leaving the country. Fortunately the poster was able to get it corrected by contacting the CBP in St. Louis and the officer remembered them from earlier dealings and that was well after the date of departure. Leaving the US before receiving proper travel documents after filing for adjustment of status (AOS) causes the AOS to be abandoned and denied by the USCIS.

Must be nice that the one-way is cheaper than the RT. Last time I checked the RT was $2200 and the one-way was over $5000 to Almaty. When my wife came on her K-1 visa the RT was $2300 and the one-way was $3200. I bought the RT and had the return 89 days after the arrival date and after we were married, I canceled the return and I still have that cancellation in her immigration file.

Good luck,

Dave
