If you meet the requirement now on your own, then no joint sponsor needed. If you do not meet the requirement still, then you will need to use a joint sponsor. The joint sponsor can be any USC or LPR residing anywhere in the US. The I-864 is a whole new affidavit of support and is not linked to your I-134. The same co-sponsor for the K-1 visa does not need to be used as the joint sponsor for AOS, if you need one.

The USC petitioner/sponsor fills out their I-864 and provides supporting documentation. The joint sponsor fills out their own separate I-864 and provides the same types of supporting documentation plus proof of being a USC or LPR.
