Is my appointment still scheduled?

Hello,

I'm filing for a spousal visa to join my husband in the US. The NVC completed our case last month and sent us an interview date for January 17th. Today, I registered online for Loomis courier services. But then the site tells me I don't have an appointment scheduled. Is this just something they tell everyone who didn't schedule their appointment themselves online but instead had it scheduled by NVC? Please tell me I still have an appointment...

Sorry if this is a dumb question. It's just we've had a couple of setbacks in this process, so I tend to double-check everything now. Thank you in advance for any information.

USCIS:

03/25/2013: I-130 filed from abroad

03/29/2013: NOA1 email received

04/05/2013: NOA1 hard copy received

06/12/2013: NOA2 email received - Approved! (75 days after NOA1)

06/14/2013: NOA2 hard copy received, but mistakenly states that I am already in the US

07/09/2013: Infopass meeting, told file is at NRC, steps taken to retrieve it

07/26/2013: letter from USCIS stating file has been retrieved and sent to NVC

07/30/2013: Infopass meeting, information confirmed

NVC:

07/29/2013: NVC received case, notice sent and received a few days later

08/09/2013: NVC case number assigned

08/11/2013: paid AOS bill (marked as paid 3-4 days after)

08/12/2013: filed DS-261 (electronic version of DS-3032)

08/18/2013: filed I-864 AOS

08/30/2013: paid IV bill (marked as paid 4 days later)

09/04/2013: filed DS-260 (electronic version of DS-230)

09/17/2013: received Checklist

10/09/2013: received Checklist

11/05/2013: received Checklist (argh!!)

12/10/2013: Case complete!

Montreal consulate:

01/13/2014: medical

01/17/2014: interview - Approved!

01/22/2014: Visa issued

01/24/2014: Visa ready for pickup

01/25/2014: POE - Montreal

Sign up as courier services only.

Also it doesnt recognized your interview because you didnt schedule it, the NVC did as it does all IR1 cases. So you sign up fresh (not sign in) and as courier services only.

Thank you, that's what I ended up doing. At first I selected "scheduled by NVC", which seemed to make the most sense, but then the system wanted me to schedule an appointment, so I backtracked and chose "courier services only". I'm just worried that choosing "scheduled by NVC" and reaching the calendar option automatically cancelled my original appointment. I don't suppose I can contact the Montreal consulate to check?

It doesn't. It wouldn't allow you to change it anyhow due to the visa type you have. I suggest calling DOS to confirm if you're that worried (Montreal consulate is very hard to get a hold of and the NVC will no longer have your file.)

Thanks for this post - I am not at that stage yet, but I really appreciate having an awareness of potential issues and be repaired (even if only mentally!)

CR1/IR1 through Montreal is so easy to do. Really I had more problems getting my driver's license in Colorado than I did with the entire process. I triple checked numbers, quadruple checked paperwork, and make sure everything I could possibly need was in an accordion folder for the interview. I think I spent more time worrying about getting my medical results back in time than I did with the actual interview. Follow Saylin's guide, read the reviews, and look at all the drawings of how the consulate works so you know what to expect. It helped, I think, for me anyhow, that someone else from VJ had my interview date. LOL
