There is a young Mexican works in a bar / restaurant nearby. He was brought to the US by his parents when he was 4 years old, he is now 25. He has no employment authorisation he says but wants to remain in the US where he has been all his life and study to better himself.

Any idea what he should do? Can he go to the authorities and tell them, after all he could not do anything about it when he was 4 years old.

He can apply if he meets the things here. Including not having left the US and be in school or finished school.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Yep, he'll get a two-year residency and a work permit. Note that there is no path to citizenship from this and if the Republicans ever win the White House again this program will come to an end.

hi

nope, it's not a GC he will get a work permit for 2 years, that must be renewed

deferred action isn't a pathway for residency, unless there is an immigration reform

yes he can legally reside here for 2 years, but that's totally different than having residency, there is no GC with deferred action

as soon as the deferred action became a decree in 2012 he could have applied and have his work permit by now. it's not too late for him to apply now.

he is eligible since he entered the country before the age of 16, never left and he is 30 or less of age

did he finish high school? if not he can apply for GED, or study something

" if the Republicans ever win the White House again this program will come to an end. "

Let hope this will be the case!!!!! Contrary to the beliefs of the minority. This country should not be a OPEN door to ALL who wants to come here. Politics, and failed legislation has led to the infestation of illegals this country is now burdened with.

Myself, my fiancee, husbands, and wives, and hundreds of thousands go through the LEGAL process of entering, or bringing our loved ones to this country.

In my opinion the process should be MORE strict. There should be MORE hoops to jump through.

Regardless of how this country is seen by a few of its citizens, and non-citizens alike. It is not a wide open door for ANY, and ALL to come here as they wish!!!!!

it's funny, my husband, who is a true blue red blooded american from the deep south actually told me tonight, as long as they are paying taxes and are not a drain on society, they should be allowed to stay wherever they are.

Interesting none the less but off topic.

He can apply for DACA that's about it. But there are a few regulations for it so tell him to read up on it VERY carefully.
