Should I call ICE About My Roommate's Sham Marriage?

My roommate came to this country unlawfully from El Salvador many years ago but has been granted tempororary status thanks to Obama's DACA program. Despite this she is in immigration proceedings due to her chronic non-filing of necessary paperwork and due to the fact that she has been arrested several times for driving without a driver's license and insurance. In order to get out of this she is about to marry her US citizen ex-husband, even though she does not love him anymore, lives separately from him, and has told me many times that this is just for immigration. Should I report her?

On the one hand anyone who knows me will know I am vehemently opposed to illegal immigration (my wife's I-130 is "in processing" right now and nothing ticks me off more than seeing people didn't follow the rules get everything we're fighting so hard for), but on the other hand she has kids and even grandkids here (long story, she's not that old, but her 17 year old son already has two kids out of wedlock). I really want to report her, but I am afraid I will feel guilty. What should I do?

It's just hard to do that when illegal immigrants like her are hurting legal I-130 petitioners like me and my wife so much.

There is information at the bottom of the page on how to report fraud. Do not expect any feed back after you file the report . They may do nothing. Unlike others I am all for reporting non law abiding people as we don't need any more people here that have no respect for the laws.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I look at it this way - you've helped remove 1 scammer from the system. That's 1 less. 1 less, in my book, is a win, always.

Just report her and be done with it.

It is because of so much people turning a blind eye that this country has a huge illegal immigration problem.

Some people don't believe in god so why care about karma.

Report her. No reason to feel guilty. She knows that what she is doing is wrong, but unless someone says something, the government doesn't know and she will hold up one more legal person's process.

IMHO consider asking her to move out or do so yourself. Chances are the USCIS will take care of her without external intervention.

Consider in the end it will be your word against hers and she can make a similar claim to your application.

I would say report her ONLY if you have actual proof and not just her word. You should only take the time if you have actual physical evidence and not just her word against your word as that would be wasting the USCIS' time.

Only you can decide what is in YOUR best interests. If I had the proof, I would file a report and then move on with my life by moving out and having nothing to do with her anymore.
