Hello Everyone,

My fiance just got an email on December 30th 2013 that he will get hard copy of NOA1 in 7-10 days. Is it mean that we don't get any RFE and start to collect documment we need while we are waiting for NOA2? Any answers will appreciate. Thank you!

Hi Disya,

NOA-1 means that they already accepted the I-129F. The payment is cashed and all your papers are in reviewing now. You can also check your case by put your receipt number on USCIS website. At this stage, the adjudicator will do backgrounds check to the petitioner and sent an RFE when they found something mssing on your papers.

My question now, how did you know you've been transferred right after you got your NOA-1?

Hi Disya,

I've seen some folks here misunderstanding about being transferred. Your fiance sent the petition to Dallas Lockbox which is located in Texas but it is not a service center. That's the address of USCIS for K-1 petitions. USCIS then decided sent your I-129F to service center that will processing the case based where your fiance lives now. Answer to your question, you are not transferred (yet).

Usually you will get transferred when the service center that processing your I-129F has backlogging cases and will routed to the other service center. At this point, you'll get notify for that.

One more thing, the NOA-1 is when your fiance get first notification whether by text or email. My fiance got both at same day. So, that's when you started counting your case file from NOA-1 to NOA-2. Not when you received the NOA-1 hardcopy which is could be arrived at your fiance mail address in any day. You can check the acceptance date (NOA-1) on USCIS using your receipt number to make sure you're correctly fill your timeline on VJ.
