I officially hate the Egyptian government. Usama has been waiting on his id for months now. They finally issued it to him a couple of weeks ago....and it says he's a female. Since then he's been trying like crazy to get it reissued. He finally got a contact within the right office who can do it quickly but the man is not at work yesterday and now today. Insha Allah he will be at work tomorrow (they celebrate Christmas on Jan 6 over there) and he will get the id. If not, we cannot get married in the court.

Can you say STRESS?????????????????????????????????????????????

ach

Oh well. I"m going to try to be calm. If it doesn't happen it doesn't happen. I now have only an inkling of what justwaiting is going through and if this is a snapshot of things to come with the bureaucracy there I think I'm gonna need some bigtime tranquilizers.

Worse comes to worse we'll just have to file the K-1 when I get back.

Anyhooo...enough ranting. It's Christmas eve. My ex just called and he wants the kids at his place by 2pm so we'll leave here at 1. Then I'm off to try to find a place that takes quick passport pics since I just realized that I forgot to take them for the marriage certificate. Then it's smooth sailing from then till I get on the plane tomorrow night.

Hope everyone has a good one.

12/28/06 - got married :)

actually you can, kinda like you can sue for just about anything, but this one comes with a kick. Sue for Writ of Mandamus and you can tack on a whole slew of things that were withheld due to pending status

Doodlebug, welcome to Egyptian life. Ha ha. I know its not funny, its just sooooo bloody typical. Tell your lovely to slip the man a 50 pound note and you'll not only see it done immediately, it will probably be gold embossed. That's the way the wheels turn there.

I am so happy. Prayers can be answered. The people at the hotel where Mohammed is staying brought him a guitar and asked him to perform for the patrons tonight. That's what he's doing right now. He was going to do a few of our songs too. This is when he's happiest and I'm so glad he has the opportunity. He needed a pick-me-up. Waiting for this passport to reappear has us both a little edgey. YOU ROCK, MOHAMMED!

Ok I feel like I'm gonna hurl now. lol.

You know if my family hadn't disowned me this would be a lot more of a celebratory night.

*sigh*

So it's Christmas Eve and I have a frozen pizza in the oven, all alone, waiting to get up the energy to pack. All the clothes are clean, I have my list and everything on it. Just gotta get it into the bag.

Oh and I just did my will. whoo hoo. what a night.

I'm not motivated to pack yet. I need to be more stressed out and it needs to be closer to the middle of the night for that. lol.

The most exciting thing I'll do tonight, other than talking to Usama in about twenty minutes, will be to finally be able to choose the seat on the airplane. I hate that they make you wait until 24 hours before the flight to check in!!!

Oh well...hope everyone is happy and healthy!

Heya Doodle. Glad to see you're still hanging in there. I'm still so excited for you!!! :)

Just got back from seeing a movie with my son and parents. Night at the Museum. It was pretty cute and I laughed in all the appropriate places.

Mom and dad are in the kitchen making dinner. I chose to leave the room as their style of "communication" tends to drive me a little batty.

Dad will go to the church tonight and sing in the choir but my mom and my son and me will stay home. Then when dad gets back presents will be opened. Mom wanted to do it tonight since my son and I are going home tomorrow. Not sure yet what time we're leaving, but we heard there was a storm coming in so we'll need to leave ahead of it in any case. I do NOT want to drive through the moutians in a snow storm. That is not a fun thing to do.

Oh well... I guess I'll go find something to do. :P

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

I'm so bored I'm watching the History channel. :P It's a program about the spear that was supposed to have pierced Jesus, pbuh, on the cross. I guess it had like magical powers or something afterwards. It's one of those things that I really don't wanna watch but I'm too stressed out to change the channel.

Just took a vicadin so maybe I'll calm down soon. I'm so glad my doc gave me enough to take me through the trip. I only take one at nighttime so that my back pain doesn't keep me up all night, though I slept a total of one hour last night just due to nerves alone. I was hoping my back would have healed by the time my trip happened but no such luck. Oh well. I wanted to bring my therapad thingy on the airplane but technically I think it's full of gell so I don't think I can. It really helps when it's ice cold to bring the inflammation down.

*sigh*

Ok maybe I"ll finish packing. I did the clothes and just waiting for my fav pair of jeans to get out of the dryer. Now I have to do medicines, spices and beauty products along with paperwork.

Melly I know you won't go for a month or two but in case you didn't know, you will need 4 passport type pics for the marriage. I found this out yesterday...or maybe I knew but forgot. In any event just blew $21 at Walmart gettin' them done. Was gonna print them myself but figured better to be safe than sorry in case I screw it up. :P

Stockings are stuffed and santa gifts are wrapped. whoo hooo. I wish I was a kid again. They just have to open presents and eat candy all day long. :)

Doodle, thanks for the reminder about the pics. I have it in the list of things I know need to be done before the marriage but I guess I'll wait til closer to the trip, or have them done there when we're together, as I guess he'll have to get his done as well. I think.

Maybe you can bring your gel thingy in your check on luggage if you can't bring it in your carryon? At least you could have it when you get there even though you couldn't use it on the plane.

I really hope you will be in the best possible health for your trip, that would be a real blessing.

:)
