My uncertainty is whether her maiden name can be considered as one of her "given" names on the DS-260. She gave it to herself?

No it was her surname before she was married. A married woman can either use her maiden name, her married name, or a combination of the two, hyphenated or not.

So both names are part of her "surname" or "family name"

hi saylin, quick question here, what are the question should I ask NVC when I want to inquire about my daughter's case number..

Call them.. they will ask for case/receipt number.. after you provide them your receipt number that you got on your NOA2.. they will give you status update.. whether they received it or not... or they have assigned a case number yet or not etc... if they do provide case number.. give them your and petitioner's email address and ask for IIN and BIN..

If you're the petitioner, just ask if the case has been assigned a case number. If you're a beneficiary, you won't be able to call about your daughter as she's a separate beneficiary.

Thanks.. thats what i thought..

Although the B2 is a visa, it's given automatically to Canadians and it's not the kind of visa the application is asking about.

Thanks for the reply.

Are you suggesting then that I fill out the DS-260 as:

Given names: <first name>

Surname: <maiden name> <married surname>

?

I am really trying so hard Timand Ana :) thank you! It's just frustrating this whole process is about waiting waiting and waiting! You would think that by the time you send everything in you are practically out of this circle... But guess what you are in until you get ur interview... On a positive note though... It's a matter of a couple of months.. So we are not talking abt 5 or 6 months anymore :) so let's pray we all ( the ones left) get case complete by this Thursday ;)

Hi all

I know the IV is for the principal applicant but I was wondering what the norm is in terms of where the pack gets sent from. I was speaking with my wife and we thought it would be safer if I mailed my documents to her and then she got the pack together to send to New Hampshire. That way there is less chance of the pack going missing as could be the case from sending over from the UK.

Is it common to do it this way, or do most people just send the pack to NVC from abroad?

Many thanks in advance.

Usually the beneficiary sends the documents to the petitioner in the US and the petitioner sends them to NVC.

In my case though, in order to save time and money, i'll be sending them from the Philippines via DHL. I think as long as you use a trusted courier, there's nothing to worry about.
