QUESTION: Should we keep calling them to ask for our IIN? Should we call them now to give them our email addresses ( beneficiary and petitioner), since this email that we got is just a reply to my email to them a couple of days ago; we never gave them our official email addresses where they can correspond with us. Or should we just wait for them to email us with the next processing instructions?

Yes, call back and get the IIN and give over both email addresses. If they don't have any email addresses on file, they won't email you anything. So make sure they get it ASAP! Otherwise you'll be waiting a few weeks to get the correspondence in the mail.

Quick question.... Who has to fill out the DS-261? The petitioner or beneficiary and can this be done on line? I am asking because I have seen condradictive instruction.

Anything that starts with DS is filled out by the beneficiary (DS-261, DS-260)

Anything that starts with I is filled out by the petitioner (I-864)

The petitioner can help, if needed, to fill out the beneficiary forms. This is usually done when there's a language barrier and/or in a place with no/low internet connection.

Omg, I just had the fright of my life! I was filling out the DS-261 and I accidently ticked 'YES' where it asks you if you already had a visa and your case can be closed. A message popped up saying "your case will be terminated and sent back to uscis to be closed! I had not submitted the form.

I rang NVC and they said it doesnt matter what you tick until it is submitted! Phew!

My heart nearly stopped.

Can you image your case getting closed because you accidently ticked the wrong box. I have now submitted with the 'no' box ticked.

Hi Jilly! I just got the same letter you did about the 129f being forwarded to the embassy. Have you recieved anything else? Has your hubby heard anything from his embassy? I'm a bit confused on what to do. It seems easier to go with the 130 as far as paperwork and so forth. I mean we've waited this long already. What's another month to have everything done. I don't really see it happening that much faster. What are your thoughts?

Hi all.

I have a question regarding the DS-261. My wife and I are in a bit of a panic because I made an error on the form.

Basically when I signed in as the applicant my name appeared already filled in so I left it. I stupidly ticked the "no" box when it asks to select an agent. I understood this to be an attorney etc which we are not using so I ticked it as NO. I then put my wife's address in the states as the correspondence address and then submitted and got a confirmation. The summary shows my name as the applicant, no agent chosen, and my wife's address in the states as the correspondent. The thing we were worried about is I live in the UK and we were worried that it looks like I am saying a reside at my wife's address in the US which is obviously not the case...

When I told my wife about this she got annoyed with me (understandably so), but when she logged on she discovered that she could edit the information. She went it and corrected the mistake and chose herself as the agent then resubmitted. We then received another confirmation with the same ref number as the previous one.

Can we assume that the correction made by my wife has replaced the information I submitted and we are all good?

I'm so disappointed that I have managed to fail on what is probably the easiest part of the process :-(. Lesson learnt, always double, double check.

Dont just assume, verify. call nvc and let them know about it and ask what info they have in their system. It may take a few days before they review the form though..

Yes we will be calling to verify but I cant call because it is too expensive and my wife will not be able to call until Monday now as she is tied up with work. I was only really looking for some short term reassurance or advice so this doesn't spoil my weekend.

some other posters were mentioning that magic jack has free app to call to US. Someone here might be able to shed some light.

Finally I can see both AOS & IV invoiced. Trying to contact my attorney to make the payments.

BTW, My spouse's middle name has an error. One letter is missing. I think this should be OK but I 'm trying to get NVC to correct the error.

Hope this will not delay the process.

F2A Category: Fiscal Year 2014 Movement

The AILA Department of State Liaison Committee has been informed by the State Department that due to the demand of F2A visas by Mexican nationals, the Mexico F2A visa preference category is expected to retrogress in the spring of FY2014.

If the return rate for this visa category decreases, the retrogression may come sooner than spring of FY2014. There is a 50% return rate worldwide for F2A visas which may be due to the fact that some applicants will convert to Immediate Relative visas in order to take advantage of the Provisional Waiver Program or some marriages may terminate before the visa is available.
