I received my case number on monday and still have not got AOS invoice or DS-261 online. How long does it usually take? I thought 2-3 days but has it been taking longer?

Keep in mind, yesterday was New Year's Day, a federal holiday, so they were closed. And due to it being the holidays, I'm sure a lot of workers are on vacation. So processing times right now will be a bit longer as there's less workers.

Hi All!

I am not to the NVC stage yet but hopefully will be soon and trying to get my packets ready. I am confused (no surprise) about the IV packet. I have read the info on page 1 and many others as well. It seems the packets are being mailed by the sponsor (I am the USC) from the USA but I can't figure out how you include the DS 260 signed by the beneficiary (spouse out of country). Is my husband the only one who can complete the online DS260? If I can complete it for him, how does he sign it and then get to me in a timely manner? Or do he complete and mail the IV packet from abroad? So sorry, I don't know if I'm being a dunce or what! Trying to figure out who needs to keep the originals to send in with the packet.

Thanks for anyone who can clarify the muddy water! headbonk.gif

You do not need to send the DS-260 printed copy.Ink signature from the beneficiary is not required at NVC stage. The petitioner can also fill up the form and mail it out as well.

I received my case number, IIN, and BIN on Friday when I called NVC. they told me to wait for an email to come with instructions on what to do next after 10 business days. does it really take that long to email me with the instructions?

Why are you waiting for instructions? You can find the same information in posts 1 and 2...

For the police certificate can my husband ( beneficiary) allowed to give it to them at the interview stage instead of NVC stage? One will take 2 months to obtain and I don't want any of them to get lost with NVC. It be just easier for him just to bring to the interview. Would I have to call NVC tell them about this or put the info in the IV packet cover letter that he would bring them then? Thanks for your help! ^_^

You can try requesting in your IV package that they close your case and that your husband will bring the PCCs to the interview. No guarantee they'll accept your request, but it's worth a shot! I'd suggest putting the request both in the cover letter as well as on its own paper, between the other civil documents.

At this point, if your spouse is not in the US, it'd be a lot easier if you did MFS as you won't need a bunch of extra paperwork. Then, you can always amend it again to MFJ once the beneficiary is in the US and has a SSN.

I would think no, but you may want to confirm with a few NVC operators to be sure. Or, if it's not too hard and doesn't take long, then you may want to consider getting one, just in case.

If it's still valid while at NVC, you'll be fine. But if it expires before the interview, then you'll need to get a new one.

If you can say yes to the three criteria, then you're eligible...

We just used regular letters and not all capital letters. We had no issues.

Thanks Saylin. goofy.gif

Saylin, I am the beneficiary waiting for case number. I believe we have to submit two passport size photos of the beneficiary.Do I have to send the photos by post from india to US or i can scan and send it to husbands email add??

I had my husband send me a digital picture of himself and I had it printed at a photo place using the proper measurements. Much cheaper and faster!
