Does anyone have any experience or insight as to how long it will take to get a case reassigned to another US embassy? Back story: my husband is a citizen of Pakistan but currently on a student visa in England. NVC assigned us to Pakistan, but I requested to have our case reassigned to London, England making it easier on him to go interview and what not. I got my original Pakistan case number on 12/23/13, sent in an email with change of address for my husband on the same date and got a response on 12/27/13 that they needed evidence of residence and address to go ahead and change the address and hence reassign the case. Sent in evidence on 12/27/13 and got an email confirming that NVC has my evidence and is reviewing the case on 12/31/13. I haven't heard anything since - I called today 1/13/14 and the representative said that they are indeed reviewing the case and that they will get back to me. When asked what is the time frame, or how long they will take on reviewing the case she said that there is no time frame for this. Should I keep on calling? Should I send another email? Any suggestions on what I should do, or any thoughts would most definitely be appreciated. I'm 4 months pregnant and desperately hope I can have my husband here in time for my delivery of our baby. Thanks!

Side note… my AOS bill is showing up as 'not invoiced'… just thought that was a bit weird since I've had my case number for so long. Or maybe it's because they are reviewing my case.

Another question - should I go ahead and have my husband fill out the DS-261, that is available on the other hand, and would that information be transferred over when the case is reassigned? Or should we just wait to get a new case number and then proceed.

Just keep calling once a day. No point in emailing them as they received your first one with the evidence and the operators have told you they're reviewing it. I have no idea the time frame for this. I've only seen it once or twice before here on VJ.

I'm not sure if it would transfer or not. For the DS-261, go ahead and fill it out and see if it does. I'd hold off on paying bills though (if they get invoiced) because if it doesn't transfer, then you may lose out on money.

A simple question: do I submit original supporting documents (employer letter, pay stubs, IRS tax transcripts) in my AOS package, or photocopies?

Doesn't matter. Copies work as long as the signatures are original. (We sent copies of everything except the signature page.)

I believe the only thing that needs to be the original is the employment letter as that has a signature. The pay stubs and tax transcripts can be copies though.

Good point; I'll send copies of my tax transcripts and pay stubs, and signed printouts of the i-864 and my employer letter.

Unfortunately, they've been quite slow lately and you may indeed be waiting 20 days...and that means business days. But, I think most people get a number in about 3-4 weeks (unless they've slowed down since we got ours...) Good luck!

Mine was not the full 20 days - I got it in 13 day... dates are in my signature below. It felt like it went pretty quick, especially after waiting at USCIS for so long!! lol

EDIT: Just noticed you're from the Philippines, you'll probably get yours quicker since you're expidited... I've seen some as quick as 2 days.
