I got my case number on Jan 3 too but by calling. I didn't receive the actual email with them until yesterday. I hope I can do the DS-261 soon:(

did the email contain the AOS Fee Bill ? if yes, that DS-261 should be viewable now.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

email?

really depends on whether or not

that attorney

used a telephone , calling into NVC, and giving over the email addresses on him and you two.

Query - are you planning to enroll in the optional NVC Electronic Processing Program for Guangzhou ? I hope so, as it shaves 3 to 5 months off of the waiting time, after case complete at NVC.

Yes, again I repeat: it's either the most recent year or the past 3 years. Up to you. Be warned, you may be asked to provide all three years at the interview. But for NVC, it's either or.

As others have said, it's outdated. NVC is slow to update their correspondence and instructions sent out. The DS-260 (and DS-261) is required by everyone now, as of September 1st, 2013.

First one is applicable only for India.

The guy on the phone was wrong. You can only log into the payment portal and online forms portal using the NVC case number. The USCIS number won't work.

1 & 2: Please read posts 1 and 2. Your answers are there if you only read.

NVC can't reject or approve a petition. That's done at the interview. But, until you get everything needed for NVC, they won't complete your case. You can possibly request they close it without it and that you'll bring it to the interview, but if you still don't have it at the interview, you'll be put into AP until it's provided.

The UK is eligible for advance medicals as soon as the case number is assigned. You don't need to wait for the interview letter like most of the other countries have to.

Please don't call every hour!! Just once a day is fine!

How long was he in Saudi Arabia for?

Haha .. Yeah not every hour, I didn't know why I said every hour. Maybe just to dramatize my sentence lol. AP??

I'm from Indonesia (the beneficiary), and my husband is a USC.

What news of a face to face meeting with a Consular Official at the China Embassy in Jakarta ? I say start there.

I called China Embassy in Jakarta and China Consulate in Surabaya, they both said that they can not make China Police Clearance. They only can notarize it. They ask me to go to Tianjin (that's where I used to work), to get China Police Clearance. The problem is, my last employer didn't want to give me a reference letter. However, I only have passport and Chinese visas to prove that I was there. Right now, I am still looking for someone or an agent who can help me with this because I can't go to China for now. And one more thing, I can't speak Chinese well, and what should I say to the PSB people for Police Clearance haha?!?!

I'm from Indonesia (the beneficiary), and my husband is a USC.

K people you need to check the reciprocity table on the NVC website to see what and where you get your police clearance. For instance, if you are not a Saudi citizen and do not live in Saudi, you cannot get a police clearance from there.

How to do this;

1) Go here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html

2) select the country you're looking for

3) scroll DOWN DOWN DOWN until you find the information you need aka birth certificate, police certificate etc...

for example if I choose Saudi Arabia and go down to the Documents section and then to the Police Records it says this:

Police Records

Police clearances are available for Saudi citizens and resident third country nationals. Saudi citizens currently residing overseas must return in person to process the police clearance.

Saudi citizens and third country nationals residing in the Kingdom process the police clearances by first obtaining a police clearance request letter from U.S. Embassy Riyadh, U.S. Consulate General Jeddah, or U.S. Consulate General Dhahran. This police clearance request letter, signed by a consular officer, must be attested by the Saudi Ministry of Affairs (current fee is SR30). The applicant must then appear personally with a passport-sized photograph and a national ID or residency permit at the regional Criminal Investigation Department for fingerprinting. Fingerprinting for women is done in a separate room. The police clearance should be available for collection after a week or two.

Police clearances are available for Saudi nationals residing outside of the Kingdom. The expatriate Saudi citizen obtains the police clearance by returning to the Kingdom and obtaining a police clearance request letter from U.S. Embassy Riyadh, U.S. Consulate General Jeddah, or U.S. Consulate General Dhahran. This police clearance request letter, signed by a consular officer, must be attested by the Saudi Ministry of Affairs (current fee is SR30). The applicant must then appear personally with the attested police clearance request letter, a passport-sized photograph and a national ID at the Regional Criminal Investigation Department for fingerprinting. Fingerprinting for women is done in a separate room. The police clearance should be available for collection after a week or two.

Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the Kingdom.

The optimal time to conduct these procedures at the police stations is 10:00 Saturdays-Wednesdays.

But if I go to Pakistan and scroll down to Documents and to Police Records it says this:

Police Records

Not available. Pakistan has no nationwide tracking system in place for criminal activities. Police Character Certificates are available for a fee from District Coordinating Offices. However, they are not an accurate reflection of an individual's criminal record. An applicant who has committed a crime in one district may be able to obtain a clean Character Certificate from that district or another. Given the inaccuracy of these certificates, they are not required for consular processing.

See you guys can do this for yourself to find out what you need and how to get it, even from another country! smile.png I promise the NVC website can be a little difficult to maneuver around sometimes, but it really has just about all the information you need. Anything else we can certainly help you with! But you have to try to help yourselves too. I know you're overwhelmed with how much work all of it is. Remember you're on the last stage that requires the most work, soon you'll be done and living with your husband or wife!

Hi Saylin,

I have question with regard to visa retrogression. At what point the visa no will be assign? After case complete? with Interview Letter? at the embassy? or after the interview?

You do not get a visa number until after you're issued the visa. When you have the visa in your hand, that's when you know your number.
