Hey Saylin,

my wife was given a 221g because she didn't have her name change documents (school leaving certificate and gazette copy). She was told to drop off those documents along with her passport at one of the vfs locations in india.

do you (or anyone) know how long would it take now for them to issue the passport back with the visa once my wife submits the docs next week..

this is so depressing

regards

Aryann

Every consulate/embassy has different processing times for these things. I don't know country-specifics and this is a country-specific question. You should look in the regional forums and see if you can find the answer there. Here's the regional forum for India: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/149-india/

Finally found the list of AOS documents I was looking for in the I-864EZ instructions - DUH. Saylin, the list of docs in Posts 1&2 had been helpful, but everything I found here, and even on the DOS site said things like "you might have to send" or "you might be required to provide", and I was trying to find something that said "We require these exact things from you." Probably asking too much for this process to be clear :)

All that said, I was able to get it all together - probably more than I need, but better safe than sorry. Sent off the AOS packet this afternoon by USPS Priority Mail, including cover sheet, I-864EZ, 3 years of tax return transcripts, employment letter, last 6 paystubs, and 2013 W-2 (since the EZ form is for just the income shown by the W-2).

Hopefully we'll get the IV fee invoiced early next week! See you all in the February forum!

Yeah, they like to be tricky like that :P Although it says the employment letter and pay stubs are optional, I've still seen checklists asking for these things, so it's better to send the optional things than not.

Good luck!

Yay, added to the February thread! Thanks as always :)

The DS-261 becomes available after a few business days from the case number being assigned.

Yes, the bar-coded cover sheet is needed for the AOS package. It has to be the very first page on top.

hey guys my wifes noa2 was sent to NVC from the national benefits center, does that make it take longer for nvc to receive? or is it better than a service center in regards to time frame?

We were also approved at the national visa center 12/12/13 and nvc received our case 12/30/13..it really depends but i noticed mine arrived at nvc earlier than the others who were also approved on the same day at service centers.
