Hi there

NVC. Received my case also on the 16th of this month and I'm still waiting for the case number. How long did it take for you to receive your PCC? Which consulate are you going thru?

Please let me know.

Hey all, I am just looking over the forms I am going to be filling out once I am in the NVC stage, and I know the DS-230 has been replaced by an online form, but I'd imagine it contains close to the same info, so I was wondering how I should explain a situation in a certain question: it states:

Have you ever been refused admission to the United States at a port of entry? (If yes, explain)

Well this has happened to my wife, last year in May we were crossing the border from Mexico to US (texas) and they held her for about 7 hours and took her tourist visa from her and denied entry to the US, so.... I don't know how exactly to explain this in a short manner on the form, any ideas?

Thanks

Just explain in a few sentences what happened. If they need more information, they'll ask at the interview. It's not a big deal. I had two denials, which I mentioned on the form, and had no issues. Wasn't even asked about it at the interview!

try to fill an expedite request through your congressman or senator office that is more easier than to deal with them directly :)

Did you verify with NVC that your petition has arrived? Seems unlikely that you were approved Wednesday and already at NVC in the system by friday.

And a email saying shipped doesn't mean its at NVC. Then send those and still haven't sent anything. Stay on it report back what they say.

You do need to call daily to get case#. Do not wait for them to email you unless you want to lose about 2 months of waiting on them.

PSA for my Peeps here:

I Need to warn people. Until you hear NVC say CASE COMPLETE or you get the CASE COMPLETE letter you don't have it.

NVC operator saying "There are no issues" or " it looks okay" isn't case complete. THE AOS and IV are reviewed in separate departments. That's why you must call and you must get exact verbiage. CASE COMPLETE.

I have had too many people come to the Case Complete thread with the words " they reviewed my AOS and IV" and then they think they have a date (no one gave them one) and they have sat here a month some 2 just to find out they never had case complete and they either didn't get a checklist or they overlooked it and thought it was a false one. Now there have been instances of NVC giving case Complete only to find an error and reverse it. (shame on the).

I will say it again until you hear NVC say "CASE COMPLETE" by phone or email you don't have Case Complete.

They do, but they discourage it and it says it might take a while to get a physical one: there was a terrible blizzard in Halifax last week during the only time he could go, so he just opted to get it done online. It does have a PRINTABLE version. I think I'll ask him to get a physical copy to be safe, but I am just trying to get all my ducks in a row once I get assigned my NVC number... I want no delays on my end.

EDIT: The printable version looks official, so I think I'm alright. It even has a verification # on it.

I just had my interview in Montreal on Friday and they did not accept the printed copy of the online version. I have to get the official one done (with the stamp) and send it in for them to issue my visa.
