Question About Who Pays for the Tourist Visa

Hey, I have a question about who would be best to say is financially supporting my wife's trip to the US if the B-2 Visa is approved. My dad has offered to pay for her whole trip including the flight and the short-term stay. Does it raise red flags if a father-n-law pays for this instead of her paying her own way? Or would it be better in the officer's eyes if her husband pays for her trip. She is Chinese and I am American, but we live in China while I'm teaching at a university here and plan on never moving back to the US. I could easily pay for her whole trip if that would show the financial stability of her family. Would that be helpful to say on the DS-160.

Any insight would be helpful. Thanks

Mitch

Its not about showing who pays. Your wife needs to show that strong tie to China that she will return. Her tie in immigrations eyes is you, so she not you need to load up evidence of strong ties.

there's a faq about this on ustraveldocs.com/cn in the tourist visa section, a list of and examples of strong ties to China.

Since she has to use that website anyway, to schedule a tourist interview, might as well dig a bit and read the stuff that's there.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

"so she not you need to load up evidence of strong ties."

I'm sorry, what does this mean?

Meaning strong ties she has to convince and show immigration why she will return to China.

I'm assuming that I am going to be her strongest tie to return to China since I live here with a university teaching position. Does she need proof that I do indeed work at a university? I have a contract through July 2014. The university only gives one year contracts. Should she bring my contract with her, and if so, should she wait until I sign and can give her a new contract that is good through July 2015?

the cuurent contract will suffice and bringing as many documents to interview as you can generally helps ,yes its a strong point in ur wife application that you her husband is working in china although ur a us national but this will convince the visa officer that ur wife will return back to china..you wife also need to convince visa officer that her husband has no intention of abondaning the contract so a good salary can do that ,ur wife should take ur salary slips or whatever evidence u have of ur pay..also be prepared to answer the question have u or are u going to apply for immigration on the basis of ur husband..
