10 Months and No Green Card YET...ANY IDEAS WHY???

Hi my fellow VJ Friends

We filed for adjustment of Status first week of March 2013. It has been 10 months now we have not received green card. In the past 10 months all USCIS sent us was the receipt that our case was received and work permit that we filed along with I-485 and last thing which we received 4 months ago was that we were chosen to not have an interview for Green Card. My husband came with K-1 visa and we got married the same month he arrived. Please help me with your guidance. Any one in this situations????

It routinely takes up to a year or so to successfully adjust from a K visa when your case has been recommended for an interview waiver.

Those getting approved without an interview are waiting 8+ months. Those that have an interview are being approved faster than those without. You can check out the posts about this and others timelines in the Progress Reports sub-forum.

[*] 15 May 2013 - Moved from MN to LA; [*] 17 May 2013 - Applied for a new SS card/filed an AR-11 online (unsuccessfully), therefore called and spoke to a Tier 2 and changed the address; [*] 22 May 2013 - Address updated on My Case Status (finally can see the case numbers online); [*] 28 May 2013 - Letter received in the mail confirming the change of address; [*] 31 July 2013 - Went to Romania; [*] 12 September 2013 - returned to the US using the AP, POE Houston, everything went smoothly; [*] 20 September 2013 - Spoke to a Tier2 and put in a service request; [*] 23 September 2013 - Got "Possible Interview Waiver" letter (originally sent on August, 29th to my old address, returned and re-routed to my current address); [*] 1 October 2013 - Started a new job.

We're right there with you. Our office is working on May cases now. We got the waiver letter also. It states an additional 6 months waiting is possible. Add that to the time waited before receiving the letter. Looks like a year for us. I did put in an e-request a couple months ago. That was waste of time. Maybe I'll call and waste more time.

We were also March 2013 AOS filers, and were just notified Dec 31 that it was approved with an interview waiver. Have you had an interview? If not, don't panic yet!! When we received the letter of potential interview waiver, we were told it could take until February 2, 2014 to be approved.

Thank You all for sharing your experience and knowledge. To those of you who are in the same situation as we are I wish you guys good luck too. I have called the office so many times, but each time it was a waste of my time. We received our interview waiver letter in August so that means counting 6 months after August. Meantime we are going to renew his EAD card and hoping we hear the good news we have been waiting soon. Thank you again for all of you. Best of luck to all of us.

Hi. In the same situation! Filed on March 7th 2013, still waiting. Put in one service request in November, no news since then- no letter, nothing. I dont even want to call them anymore, I ll just wait and hopefully something will happen soon. I got my EAD and in June they got our change of address and changed it on the USCIS site when I search for my case stating they received our change of address and thats it!

So frustrating....
