Knightsbridge Medical - previous hospitalisation due to DVT

Hello all again :D

In 2010, I was hospitalised for a week with DVT. I will indicate on the medical forms that I have 1) been hospitalised and 2) had a circulatory disease (though I'm not sure DVT counts as a disease... it was a one-time thing!)

Do things like this cause problems with the CR-1 visa? I don't need any medication apart from a shot when I fly.

Thank you!

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

Take in a statement from you doctor outlining dates, your treatment and the medication you take when you fly. Then Knightsbridge won't have to ask you to send it later which would delay your medical report until that was done. Generally they want a doctor opinion, not just your telling of your condition (which you can also do).

Does the letter have to be quite recent, or can I get one now before my NOA2 and get it out of the way?

I have another relevant question:

When do I get my consulate interview date? Before or after I have the medical?

As far as I understand, K-1s and DCFs have to have their medical exam first, and then receive an interview date once the medical results reach the embassy. Conversely, CR-1s get their interview date as soon as their case is ready at the NVC and just schedule in their medical before the interview date? Am I correct?

You are correct. NVC hands out your interview. London hands out the interview for K1s and DCF and waits for the medical results before they will do it.

Now is a good time for you to get your shots done and order your police certificate (you mail to NVC). Keep a photocopy to show at the medical as they require it. You could also get your doctor to sign your police certificate photo while your there sorting the shots and medical report of your DVT.

I'm going to wait for the I-130 to be approved before I get my police certificate because they're only valid for 6 months.

As for the shots, there's been a bit of confusion over whether the P in the DTaP/Tdap from the NHS stands for pertussis or polio... so I'll just get it done at the visa medical. At least then I know I'm getting the right vaccines biggrin.png I worry over every little thing (as you can tell) so I'll happily pay more money to make the process smoother.

And the police cert photo... I was going to ask my manager at work to sign the pic since my GP hasn't known me for long enough. I've been at this surgery since I was born pretty much, but the GP there took over from my regular who retired.

The instructions on who can sign it just say "manager" so I assume that means anyone in a managerial capacity? She's not a senior manager, just my line manager.

Oh, and where are my manners...! I forgot to thank you for clarifying when the interview is booked. Thank you muchly :D

Police - 12 months

Pertussis

Positive :P

Well at least get the practice nurse to gather your previous immunization records or get them from your Mum if she has records. Might be useful. If you had pertussis jab as a child, then you can get the Td as the 10 year booster, for example. In the UK, they often give a 4 combo shot to babies to cover diptheria, tetanus, pertussis, and polio. If you already had two MMR jabs, you are done with those.

Oh, and where are my manners...! I forgot to thank you for clarifying when the interview is booked. Thank you muchly :D

You are welcome.
