Hi everyone, was hoping someone could help with a question. I was married to my fiance but with the holidays have been unable to get an appointment to get a civil surgeon to do the I-693. Can I send my status adjustment package in without it and submit it later?

Thanks for the help!

Option 1: Submit AOS package without I-693 - most likely receive an RFE which will set you back anywhere between a few weeks to a couple months

Option 2: Obtain I-693 after holiday season and send in complete AOS package - delay of maybe a few days to a week

I'd go with option 2 personally. ;)

Did you have all the required vaccinations marked off on a properly filled out DS-3025 at your K-1 medical? If so, you do not need to see a civil surgeon to get an I-693. See this thread for more info > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/428381-i-693-report-of-medical-examination-and-vaccination-report/?p=6206232

There is no deadline to file for AOS. If you married within 90 days of entry, then you are eligible to file for AOS. You will be out of status when your I-94 expires, and you will not be able to work or travel and re-enter the US without EAD/AP or green card, so you should file as soon as possible. If you need to see a civil surgeon, then do that and get the I-693 before filing.

~ Moved from K-1 Process to AOS from Family Based Visas - topic is AOS, not K-1 ~
