montreal interview date

Hi

I have read conflicting statements about the interviews. I read that the NVC sets up the interview date, and that Montreal also allows you to pick the interview date. So which is it? Does Montreal allow us to change our interview date to a sooner time than NVC scheduled if we find a cancellation.

Also where do we send the Affidavit of Support to Montreal or to the National visa center. It is so confusing and at this point I have read so many different stories about everything I am paralyzed by analysis. But i just want to be reunited with my wife as soon as possible

NVC schedules the interviews for Cr1 visas (correct? at least that was the way when we petitioned)

Check out LingChe's shortcuts, or James's shortcuts on the wiki. The affidavit of support goes to NVC. But when we petitioned there was such a LONG wait between NVC and the interview that we brought updated financials to the interview. Good thing we did, they were asked for.

NVC schedules the IR1/CR1 dates. You can attempt to contact Montreal for an earlier date, but they are hard to contact. Normally the interview date is only a month or two off the case complete. K1 on the other hand, can choose their interview date but Montreal normally makes them wait several months (think booking April or May right now) for an opening. Of course they can keep an eye out for cancellations and open dates as well.
